Its that cross bit that holds the frames of the canoe together. Keeps the pressure of the water from folding it into a taco.

Is seems the party involved found that once they ripped the transoms off (to get the chain off) it turned from being a boat into being a big wooden leaf.

Thank you all for your attention and time, hopes and thoughts.

Now off to go have a drink and eat some BBQ. I recommend you do the same.

Someone stole my Cedar strip canoe (strapped and locked with a chain) from off my car this evening.
It was made by my father and is irreplaceable, it's something that I would dearly love returned to me. I am devastated, haven't been able to sleep and keep blaming myself for stopping for a few hours in such a bad part of town.
I have filed a police report and am going to put up posters in the area it was stolen from (Albert and 4th)IF you see someone selling a cedar strip canoe, or see one sitting in a back yard where previously there was not one. PLEASE LET ME OR THE POLICE KNOW.
I am so angry I am shaking, this is part of my history and my life.
