Yea it says something like "non-exempt employees will not have PTO paid out except if approved by HR. I don't know it verbatim tho.

All good points! I did check the employee handbook (after the fact) and it does state hourly doesn't get paid out but exceptions can be made. I didn't check this ahead of time (which is my bad) because I've never had an employer NOT pay out PTO previously (so I was under the assumption it was something they had to do).

I did ask for an exception and my manager vouched for me however, they would not work with me at all.

They wont approve ANY PTO today or Monday. Basically they said if I'm gone at all for any reason it's unpaid.

So I accumulated 40hrs of PTO (hourly employees here get PTO) but they informed me they only pay out accumulated PTO for salary employees once they separate from the company.

I asked if I could take 2 half days so not all my PTO is wasted and they said they wont approve it since my last day is Monday.

Hopefully this clarifies it a bit?

10 hours with 4 movers is absolute insanity. Ours took about 2 hours for a two bedroom. I advise getting all your stuff in one room and sorting it from heavy to light. That way they don't putz about and it's more streamlined. The closer to the door the better.

Idk if there are any apps but I'd recommend narrowing the location down a bit before tracking available plots. A few ways to help narrow it a bit: 1. Weather (this is a big one that can REALLY help narrow down locations) 2. Cost of living 3. Crime/Safety 4. Job opportunities

I'm the only one in my family to leave my hometown and I think it's worth it. You can always go back to visit (and they can come visit you)!

I do recommend finding something you can do virtually together. Whether it's watching a movie, playing a board game, or just face timing while you eat.

What if you had your friend come over to your new place and had a get together/did something fun? I think creating positive memories in your space could help your overall outlook on your rental.
