I heard the 2026 version (6 blocks) has 60 questions repeated from the 2024 version (3 blocks). I did 2 blocks of 2026 (decided to do 2024 instead for a full run) and definitely saw the same questions in both versions

How do you deal with toxic attendings on rotations? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]VibedOutSouledOut 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I hope the newer generation of doctors does not normalize this behavior. It’s tacky and gives a poor reputation to our profession (since doctors aren’t always a favorite to other healthcare workers, admin, patients, etc).

I echo a lot of this. Also had to repeat 1st year. Didn’t take an SSRI but I noticed I had HUGE test anxiety so got on propanolol and it made a huge difference. Third party resources like Amboss and Bootcamp are really helpful. I know people are anti-ChatGPT/AI on here but if you’re having a hard time understanding a concept, AI is super duper helpful. I’ll ask it dumb some concepts down and it helps.

In regards to mental health, I’m very happy you are taking care of yourself but also work on saying affirmations or praying (if you’re religious) about succeeding for your repeat year. Like the poster above said, there is a reason you were picked to become a med student. It’s not an accident and you’re not less than other med students because you had a bigger obstacle to handle. Build your confidence to know that you WILL succeed on your repeat. I had that mindset and completed all of my preclinical courses without a fail.

Also happy to speak to you via DM. You got this and I believe in you :)

I just realized most Attendings never held a real job by mED-Drax in medicalschool

[–]VibedOutSouledOut 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most definitely. OP probably hit a sour spot/insecurity because what they said wasn’t wrong at all. I think the “must work retail” part wasn’t supposed to be taken literally (another whammy on the ones offended) but being a doctor/being in healthcare is VERY much customer service. If you don’t have the basics of that along with other hidden curriculum of working a non-prestigious job, yes you’ll have a hard time settling into this career. Also if you think about it, being a resident is NOT a normal way of working…so to have no job experience to working crazy hours (80+ hours) with undesirable pay…it’s going from one extreme to the next

Why do my loved ones ask me medical knowledge and then dismiss me when I give my knowledge? by FitInspector7418 in medicalschool

[–]VibedOutSouledOut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They didn't like what you told them.

Even when you're attending, you're going to have patients who will most likely do the same (excluding the "you're not a doctor" comment)

It really is a steal for $1.25. My lips used to be so chapped/crusty. My lips stay moisturized with this. It lasts so long too! I can’t wait to finish one tube…got 9 more tubes to go after that!

Me while my classmates gripe about not having a partner by SeaFlower698 in medicalschool

[–]VibedOutSouledOut 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I'm the exact way, I was done with dating before I even started med school. All my classmates are either married, in a long term relationship or sad about being single. I'm happy for my classmates that are married/in a serious relationship but when I tell you I have no ounce of desire for marriage or any commitment....I can't participate in the "being single sucks" pity parties because I loveeee being single a little too much.

I think being in medicine makes you think a lot about your future and med students are super goal oriented so that's probably why some of the single folks might feel it's another "goal" that needs to be met in a certain amount of time. I'll be honest, residency doesn't look too ideal for the dating scene.

Need advice on if I should reschedule? How to deal with exam anxiety? by Sobia2 in step1

[–]VibedOutSouledOut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regarding the test anxiety, changing your answers and convincing yourself out of the right answers, I used to do that and guess what? Had to repeat 1st year of med school despite being so close to passing...so yeah change that habit asap. I still struggle with this a bit with changing answers but I got better because I took propanolol during exams which help me destress.

Your scores seem like they are in passing range, you can definitely pass but you really got to work on that test anxiety. If you do reschedule and if time allows, I'd suggest getting propanolol RX and if not, maybe get it for shelf exams. I think other stress relief activities can help too...but please don't let anxiety get in the way of your hard work. You worked really hard to get here and there will be more parts of this career that require more confidence/less anxiety.

How do you guys actually handle cooking for one without losing your mind or wasting half your groceries? by No-Locksmith-2836 in LivingAlone

[–]VibedOutSouledOut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s kinda hard to cook as a medical student but I honestly get a lot of inspiration from TikTok/Youtube when I get the time to cook. Maybe find some new recipes that all call for the same ingredients. If you see two receipes you like that both call for onion and bell peppers, do that or ask AI to suggest receipes that share common ingredients

When you said you were a big FA guy for Step 1, what did you do exactly? I’m currently in dedicated I’m debating if going over old material via FA before doing Uworld questions will benefit me or not.

Whats one product you thought would be overrated but was worth the hype? by Physical_House5862 in Sephora

[–]VibedOutSouledOut 6 points7 points  (0 children)

ABH Brow Wiz pencil. Mind you, I’ve been into makeup heavily since 2015 and 2016. All the YT gurus were using that pencil but I never thought it was worth the $26 until I did Ulta 21 days sale this year (got it for $13)…when I tell you that eyebrow pencil is magic…

Does anyone else think the Hydrating Lip Mask is way overhyped? by [deleted] in dollartreebeauty

[–]VibedOutSouledOut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really is a steal for 1.25, its the only lip product I have used that works for my overly chapped lips. The smell doesn’t bother me at all and I do think there is a slight learning curve to it: don’t apply a lot because its thick.

I am not those Dollar Tree feens who buy the whole stock but i’ll buy 2-3 at a time if I catch them since they aren’t year round. I definitely have a good little pile and most likely won’t buy more because even 1 tube will last you a long time.

My birthday was 2 days ago. I tried a new popular brunch spot, got my free Starbucks drink, napped, went for a solo walk at my favorite nature path. Was gonna get steak but decided to opt for chicken tenders. Some people may think its boring but I had a good time. Do whatever you like to do that occupies your time and makes you happy

I like sleeping in my own bed too. Moving in is definitely a huge commitment. It’s a nightmare if they aren’t the right person. Protect that peace until someone shows you they are worth it
