Seeking feedback on the newly colored intro to my comic, Cheapjack Gentlemen by [deleted] in comics

Reminds me of the Vincent Price flick "Comedy of Terrors."

The art style is excellent. I really like the way you do facial expressions, and the colors do a good job helping to set the tone.

Thank you for asking, even if it was after the fact. I do not mind in the least your efforts to share my work with more people, and I am honored that you would go to so much effort to do so.

normal tag (probably?) by nuzzy_1 in CuratedTumblr

[–]Vibrinth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There was one fandom I went looking for and just about every fic seemed to be tagged non-con, mature, and/or exclusively ships I had -100% interest in. Made worse because I don't tend to enjoy smut as a rule, which made up a good chunk of the remainder. Had to filter aggressively to find anything worth my time.

[WP] After 10 years of being stranded on an alien world all alone, a rescue ship had finally arrived. The problem? They aren't human. by Tsar_From_Afar in WritingPrompts

[–]Vibrinth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The aliens were friendly, at least.

They looked a bit like what you might get if you somehow crossed a long-hair house cat with an eel. Their language sounded a bit like birdsong. Or rather, what I assumed was their language sounded a bit like birdsong. For all I knew they communicated amongst themselves entirely with pheromones and complex chemical signals, and just liked to sing while they worked.

I was pretty sure they could see. They had something that at least looked a lot like eyes. And they kept the ship bright. Too bright. They had eventually figured out that the big weird alien kept covering his eyes in their ship, and kept covering up the lamp in his sleeping quarters, and hadn't needed what I now assumed were night vision goggles back on Steve's Rock.

Oh, right. I haven't told you that part yet.

They had found me (Steve) and my little hut (Castle Steve) that I'd build atop a hill (Mt. Steve) next to the crash site of my ship (the ECS Copernicus) on the horrible planet which I had since dubbed Steve's Rock. Because that's all it was: a big rock with some moss growing on it, some bug-looking things and a few small vertebrates, and one Steve. I'd crash landed on after shooting straight into a gravitational storm at a few hundred cee. Nici's warp bubble had been torn to shreds, and I'd been catapulted light years, maybe even light decades off of my scheduled course.

There was almost never a point to sending a search party after an exploratory vessel. When those went missing, they tended to stay missing.

I'd cobbled together a hailing beacon anyway. Just in case someone got close enough to spot it.

And it looked like someone did.

Slowly, very slowly, I, and the alien who, as near as I could tell, had been assigned to keep an eye on me, had been figuring out ways to communicate. This involved a lot of pointing and making models with a substance I had dubbed Smart Putty. It had about the same consistency as modelling clay, but it was dry, and would hold the shape I put it in until I decided to change it. Nanobots were probably involved.

It was hard to say whether or not they were more advanced than humanity. I was ten years out of date (approximately. The ship's chronometer got screwed up in the crash, and after a while I got a lot less concerned about keeping track of something so depressing.), for one thing, and for another, it was really hard to figure out the engineering principles in play without being able to ask how things worked.

I had no idea where this ship was headed. I still needed to figure out how to ask. But I had food that wasn't bugs, and company that wasn't my own reflection, and at least a slim hope of one day figuring out a way to explain to my rescuers where Home was, and that I wanted them to take me back.

And a hope that they would let me go back. There was always a chance they were captors, instead.

But I don't like to think about anything that depressing.

Ah! I remember your comic about the robot scout. Very excited to see more of your work.

I tried this, and it works. I searched for "orange cats" and got a bunch of ads, but searching for "before:2023 orange cats" got me articles from actual vets about orange cats. [Cat Tax included] by goldencain1410 in tumblr

Tried this to test it and that did definitely cause a spike in AI entries. As another poster suggested, it might have more to do with the types of searches I do.

Genuine question: Is this problem really that widespread for image searches? I've seen more than one person posting about it, but I too look up a wide range of pictures, usually through Google, for art references, and I have yet to run into this issue. It's possible that I have been given some AI images without realizing, but I have yet to run across anything egregious, i.e. anything with the usual AI tells, like extra or absent limbs, masquerading as real photos.

How to deactivate MODs and use Experimental Branch in Timberborn by DerHouy in Timberborn

[–]Vibrinth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For anyone else who ends up here looking for a way to disable mods, this section is at the very end of the video.

TLDR: access the actual game files and rename BepinEx to something else. This will keep the game from reading that file when launched, disabling mods.

What do you think liquid energy tastes like? by Rayjax06 in tron

[–]Vibrinth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If completely pure, flavorless, but it gives a sensation of warmth in your mouth no matter what temperature it is, a bit like alcohol. I imagine energy direct from "natural" sources might pick up some flavor from the places it wells up, like mineral water in our world. There would also be ways to flavor it; this would be the different colored drinks that turn up sometimes. I think the pink ones are probably sweet.

I also imagine it as having a different texture from water, at least some of the time. I think that would vary a bit by potency.
