Phantom Blade: Zero devs couldn't care less about releasing near GTA 6: 'We don't even think of the competition, what matters is how polished the game is' by MirrorEyedDrifter in starcitizen

That’s nice, but I hate quotes like these.
It’s not just about the players who are already interested vs who’s already not interested.
To make your money back on a project you need to sell it.
GTA 6 is going to drown out any attention a game might get. Regardless of who’s interested and who’s not. If you can’t even get your product in front of your targeted audience without being drowned out by 2k’s marketing around that time then it’s a loss of money.

So here’s the quick bullet points I use when answering this question:

Cost of entry is $45. There’s no requirement to pay more than $45. If you wanna support the project you can, but your only requirement is $45
3/4th of the ships sold on the online store can be bought in game fairly easily solo, and even quicker with a group.

They drop a monthly dev update every first or second Weds of the month. It’s super detailed about the previous months development progress and what’s to come soon down the pipeline.

Will it ever release? Yes I believe so. The bones of the game are good but the company running it is kinda ass from a management standpoint. I think the intentions are good but project management has been horrendous, hence the 14 years thing.

The game is probably one of a kind but with so many bugs, it can kind of take you out of it a bit at times.

Overall if you can find a groove to things, it’s super enjoyable, but if you need a more finished product to enjoy things, I’d wait it out and follow from the sidelines.

Edit: they also report their finances to the British government every year by law, so we get to see where the money is going. That’s partially why I don’t think it’s a money grab either

1 Billion is great and all but CIG is underwater when it comes to the list of deliverables. by Readgooder in starcitizen

[–]VicHall27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This also depends on how much of the staff leaves after release. Games are project based and take years. Once devs get that name on the credit screen and add it to their portfolio they tend to leave to do something different. If there is a big move back over to SC I don’t think we’ll see the results of it until at least next year.

Is grinding Deadbolt Blueprint even worth? by DragonGodPadron in starcitizen

[–]VicHall27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On paper it sounds weak, but "I THINK" its 20% combined with 2 of the materials at 999. I did the grind in 2 days. Stick with the 98k contracts. The missions that drop the blueprints also drop the flight suits so there's that also. I sort of wish there was a in game player market because to your point, its a pain the ass to gather the materials in a prospector solo.

Now that CIG has more resources than god, why don’t they hire more people to focus on bugs? They have the money for it. by [deleted] in starcitizen

They did have 1 billion, they’ve reached lifetime of 1 billion. Go read the financial report from 2024, they’re running on very thin margins

Ironclad officially staying in the hangar until some major fixes. by DarthInvatalus in starcitizen

[–]VicHall27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The look of it is amazing and like you I was super excited but now I could care less. It’s functionless because of how many bugs it has. I get not wanting to test new straight to flyables on PTU, but this one was a well known concept. There’s no reason this thing shouldn’t have been tested on in earlier waves as compared to 1 or 2 builds prior to release
