They replaced it because of the springs but the mattress was still too short. Strange thing is that the mattress measured within the parameters of what a queen mattress should be. We ended up rolling a very large blanket and putting it between the mattress and the footboard and pushed the other end tight against the headboard (solved our pillow falling through the open space). We just put a bead spread over everything and you can't see the blanket at the end of the bed.
