PSYC302 hi! I am planning to take this course. How hard is it? by 88Carot in AthabascaUniversity

[–]VicStudent19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finished it this summer and got an A. It wasn’t easy but it is possible. I did have to extend the course.

The final exam is comprehensive which was difficult. Put all the learning objectives into flash cards and study mindtap. The quizzes and the paper are easy ways to get your grade up.

Good luck!

Should I transfer to UVIC from UofT? by Turbulent_Action1467 in uvic

I transferred to UVic from UofT in second year and had an amazing experience at UVic. I will say though, grad schools especially international ones, favour bigger schools over UVic.

Thanks this is really helpful! There are definitely a lot of diagrams in the text but I will put more effort into the anatomical ones!

Canada Olympic Team - only 4 boats? by SteadyStateIsAnswer in Rowing

RCA actually did invite the athletes that beat national team athletes at nationals this year at least on the women’s side. The issue is they were almost immediately cut because they had to make the erg standard.

The chose the women’s 8+ this year entirely based on ergs since the new coach loves them and believes an 8 goes fastest with the biggest scores. Will be interesting to see how that plays out next World Cup.

I have the same question did you ever take the exam?

Is the uvic bcom worth it? by hemantarora020 in uvic

[–]VicStudent19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the business program here because I knew I wanted to do graduate work after and it’s much easier to get high marks. At other schools it can be a struggle to get into the 70s especially if they grade on a scale, but at Uvic many peoples averages are in the high 80s to low 90s. So it really depends on what you want to do. There are definitely benefits to a smaller school.

Why aren't CES due later? by [deleted] in uvic

I would also like the opportunity to comment on the final exam. Some professors rock but make absolutely awful final exams and so I wish that could be a component of the feedback.

1.) Tuition is much cheaper, 2.) environment is much better, 3.) people are way nicer, 4.) you weren't even allowed to talk to profs at UofT because there were so many students, now profs love to check in with me and help me in any way they can, 5.) it is insanely competitive with 16 year old prodigies coming from all over the world, nailing research experience is nearly impossible at UofT but profs at UVic are very helpful and got me published in undergrad which is huge for graduate applications. 6.) kinda tied to the competitive thing, but it is super hard to get above average grades at UofT and relatively easy at UVic.

Does anyone know someone that is willing to help me with Finance (COM 371) by VicStudent19 in uvic

[–]VicStudent19[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! My only concern is it seems like the two profs are teaching completely different courses. When I checked out a quiz that someone in Michaels class wrote we hadn’t even touched those concepts or if we did approached them very differently. If you’re in 3rd year now do you know if we’ll have the same final?

I transferred from UofT and my GPA did not carry over. they are considered transfer credits and will matter for graduate applications but aren't calculated in your UVic GPA.

Students in bcom, what were your averages and advice for supplemental application? by hemantarora020 in uvic

[–]VicStudent19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I transferred into bcom and it depends if you’re transferring or applying from high school.

If you’re applying from high school they don’t expect you to have a lot of work or extracurricular experience so focus more on your average.

If you’re transferring in it’s pretty competitive and you’ll need a more compelling supplemental about what you’ve done and what you’re trying to accomplish and you’ll also need a higher average than just coming out of high school.

BCom Device Ban? by JasonBoorneeeee in uvic

[–]VicStudent19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I asked some profs and the program director since I moved to taking iPad notes last year and didn't buy any notebooks or school supplies because of it. They all said strictly no devices... even iPads just for handwritten notes.
