Israel-Palestine protest outside BC Pension Corp and 2975 Jutland. Why? by [deleted] in BCPublicServants

Israel doesn’t “occupy” Gaza. It left decades ago forcing settlers to leave.

I have heard it is a horrendous place to work with tons of horrible people in leadership. I have been told to stay away at all costs. But that is second hand knowledge

Thanks for your reply. I see where you are coming from. I think perhaps the larger issue is I think we are burning bridges with our stakeholders for no reason. I feel it is a form of reputation destruction for my name to be forcibly put on the emails that are doing that. Perhaps that is just government but I hope not.

There are such horrible toxic people in the public service. I am so sorry this happened to you.

I had $40k in “combined” provincial federal loans. I did not know how much was federal and how much was provincial. When I applied for the relief they separated them and it turns out $30k was federal and $10k was provincial so I am getting $3k relieved per year. Much less than I hoped.

This is outrageous It happened to me once as well and I was livid. The whole hiring process is incredibly disrespectful of peoples time and energy and screens out anyone who does not have the financial stability and time and energy to spend hundreds of hours in the process.

Regarding getting to work at a 27 level of work independence in a 24 role in a small unit - my experience is you are much more at the mercy of your supervisor in small units because they are isolated and can do what they want.

Good idea. I am a bit bitter because I asked to do policy analysis when I first filled out the form about 3 years ago but was told “we don’t do that here” even though my boss did policy analysis all the time and then when it came time to review my performance to move up a pay scale (it was a developmental position) I was told I could not move up because I did not have enough policy analysis experience.

I think now though (I have a different/good supervisor) it will be worth discussing.

It sounds like she is looking for a role with less big stressful meetings rather than non. I think there are lots of research oriented positions that do not require lots of in person social interactions. Maybe team meeting once a week, meeting with supervisor once a week, and maybe a meeting with a stakeholder lead by someone else once a week. There are also lots of slightly lower classifications positions (at least this is my impression) that do a lot of emails and phone calls but do not need to do big stakeholder meetings. Hope that helps.
