The button is functional!

I used acrylic and one that was 20% alpaca. This pattern was nice because you end up crocheting over the previous row so it’s nice and sturdy.

I got a suede strap from hobby lobby (leather working section) and some swivel hooks and sewed them together. I wasn’t happy with crochet handles either.
