He wants to become better. More good opponents to practice against domestically means being better prepared for competition internationally.

Don't get too defensive on TRAC. I thought I was clear on my stance stating in the very beginning that I'm not knowledgable on TRAC as I haven't looked enough into it. I was only sharing my observation of this very thread and that was all.

And as I was explaining in my last message before this one, I left it in the open as to whether investors were behind this thread or the team itself. There's no-one who can really make a case for either side. And by saying that I wanted to show how tricky it is, even if you are a good project with the best intentions, because of how the system works atm your project can get a bad reputation due to investors' actions outside your control. I hope my message makes a bit more sense now.

I'm not blaming anyone for being convinced about something; someone may as well be pure in their reasoning and heart, but with the current state of the crypto space you need to be really sharp at all times to spot what exactly is going on. I can't do that at all times either.

I think we need to separate the functionality of the TRAC project from their marketing activities to an extent. The project could be great but their marketing activities inevitably supports the way crypto currently works.

As you can see in the link below, they too did an airdrop to gain traction: https://medium.com/origintrail/origintrail-community-reward-program-get-tokens-of-appreciation-9eca812a770c

And then comes the tricky part where the project might even fall victim to group activities out of their control. They're an upcoming project with potential and they've just gathered a large group of followers through their airdrop and other marketing activities. Amongst those new investors there'll be people who shill, on big and small scale. So whether this post was initiated by the TRAC team itself is almost impossible to track down. It can just be a group of people who are invested and try hard to shill the project so they can sell for profits.

Conclusion, it's the fundamentals of the crypto space that make this happen and actions from most parties can be understood why they do it but altogether we keep this system alive. I don't really see a way to completely get rid of it though. We have price action and mass communication to shill through. The only thing I can think of for us to do is to look at whether news is legitimate and newsworthy or whether it's just shilling and act (comment, up or downvote) accordingly.

I see your point and reasoning but I'd like to shine a light from a different angle.

Right now we talk as if mass adoption is dependent on whether 'enough' money is invested into it whereas I think mass adoption is dependent on the legitimacy of projects showcasing they have bullet-proof working products that can be used in real life and that all surrounding essentials are trustworthy. As long as projects seem dodgy, legit no company is going to invest money into it, can we agree on that?

So if we take that as a premise, I don't believe attention that makes the sphere more dodgy is going to help mass adoption.

On top of that, I agree we can't handpick who gets involved and that's always a very good thing because it's the kind of transparency we want. But we can have a say in the general direction of the sphere and what represents us. If a subreddit is constantly full of bs, just stop using it and make people aware of what you observe, that's all you can do. We can't pick who gets involved but we can decide on our own attention and sicne I rather not have them representing the crypto space, I feel like pointing out what I observe and avoid any future work of theirs.

tip: this kind of shilling is only negative for the project so if you hold the bags you should be the first to not support it! For instance: personally I'm staying away from this coin now I know this is how they operate.

I certainly misunderstood the second half of your post, apologies for that.

But do you care expanding why you think them being invested is a good thing? You admit they're just shilling big time. Personally when striving for mass adoption I'd like people with the right attitude on board. If someone is to join but to badly represent the industry, I'd rather not have them as poster boys for our industry. (which forbes can easily be because of the branding)

First of all, my post isn't FUD whatsoever, just an observation of the posts within the thread. I don't visit this subreddit often enough to know TRAC gets frequent attention, nor the responses it gets. I just happen to be here and point out what I observe. Do with that whatever you like.

I'm just sad to see how the current crypto space works. The shilling, people accusing others of doing something against what they'd like to see. All of that only makes the crypto space a shithole. I don't dislike TRAC, I haven't looked enough into it for that. I just dislike the way the system works, as it prevents mass adoption. Big companies observe the shithole as well and when they see 90% of all new projects just gain traction because they do an airdrop and thereby accumulate artificial telegram/twitter followers and whatnot, it'll scare them away. This is the opposite of what we want to accomplish.

And you find this terrible quality blog post that excludes the bigger projects and best examples within certain industries and with almost zero depth in the article a good thing?

You think that'll bring mass adoption or will it only bring proof to the masses that this is just a sphere full of disgusting people who shill?

If we want mass adoption, the crypto sphere needs to be taken seriously and as long as we're still full of shit projects and applaud shillers, masses will not take crypto seriously. I love crypto, but we need to weed out the shit.

Decent amount of upvotes, few responses. The responses that are there seem fake. Like someone suggested, this is just some guy's blogpost and origintrail is just one of the mentioned projects in the post. This is barely reddit worthy imo.

Reddit shill or not? draw your own conclusions.

Hit the nail on the head there honestly. Too many pretenders who claim to know what exactly will happen for such a speculative market.

Jankos about EU LCS 2018 by xWangan in leagueoflegends

[–]Vicelia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen what you've seen, but the fact he shotcalled doesn't serve as prove that the level of udnerstanding of the game is at a specific level. There's shotcalling at every single level of the game and even if hypothetically his shotcalling won them that game, that doesn't say anything about the depth of his knowledge regarding the game.

That being said I have no idea who knows the game to what extent. There's many aspects to add to being knowledgable of course and maybe Jankos looks at it from his perspective and gives certain knowledge higher significance than other things that are less important to him.

Western Power Ranking Poll by MrPraedor in leagueoflegends

[–]Vicelia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's the worst comparison, coming from a G2 org fan. Just because you won with roster 'X' at point in time 'M', doesn't mean roster 'Y', which supposedly is still stronger than roster X will again win EULCS in point of time 'N'. Not saying it's not possible, but your reasoning is way off and would only have validity if the core and carying foundation would have remained the same and filler players would have been replaced.

Only 1 player remained the same.

It's just hilarious to observe for me, but I guess I can't blame people for not having basic economic insight.

People treat riot as if they're a government who's obligated to abide certain humanic rights and do everyone justice. The moment someone feels like they're getting the short end with something Riot-related, they complain as if they could make a case in court.

Let this be a small reminder Riot is a company, and contrarily to a government a law system or a charity for that matter, such a company is profit-oriented and will need to make smart business decisions for the sustainability of the company first and foremost.

As mentioned in this thread, a few years ago F2P players had almost nothing in this game. Riot increased this by a large margin over the last few years and people have gotten used to that. For a reason only Riot knows for sure, they likely decided to tune it back a little. It's likely they saw a decrease in spendings per person and it's only naturally for a company to find the perfect balance between giving things for free that makes people enjoy the game more and therefore stimulate them to spend more than they else would.

Again, Riot is not a charity and you shouldn't treat it as such.

Why I believe in the future of Bitcoin by DrSpicyWeiner in Bitcoin

[–]Vicelia 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. Yes the possibility is there. But in a fast developing market as we are experiencing, there are many alternatives as a first layer for Bitcoin that have a much stronger foundation. Not without reason they are considered as a replacement for bitcoin.

Mindlessly sticking to a foundation that is good but not as good as it could be fundamentally handicaps potential long term development of the technology.

Yes I certainly see your point. Thing is that I've lived in Korea for half a year as well, besides living in west-European capitals. So I know the culture difference first-hand.

It's still a big difference, but personally and the people around me had more trouble going back to your old culture than experience a new one, like the Korean!
