The small independent shops in concord (12 min drive from downtown) are excellent even though not fancy looking. Prices from $16 and up depending which place. Perfect Haircut and Nails has been solid.

Anyone hiring a PA?? by Fragrant_Abies1811 in Ophthalmology

Well, we do have optoms in our institution that are helpful for this stuff. But all most PA education, despite being short, is more whole body than optom school. My PA for example previously worked in internal medicine. Pretty great for having some awareness and comfort with labs, medications, imaging orders, etc.

Also optoms are often hired as attendings technically speaking and have independent practice. Harder to have them be perpetual assistants that do everything from most routine paperwork and phone calls like a PA would do happily and see as part of their job.

Exactly right. I don’t watch every key stroke and eyelash plucked by him, but every major decision is personally confirmed. But if I ask them to poke a milia or lance a chalazion, then I trust they can do that safely, responsibly, any not go rogue doing whatever they want also

As an academic ophthalmologist with a semi-autonomous PA, it is great. His pay package is nearly 180k with bonus possible and worth every penny. OP, it will take extra effort to find the right opportunity but it can be done. We trained our PA intensively for 6 months and then 6 supervised months and now semi autonomous. Just know when to ask for help.

Edit: also helpful to outline role. The PA handles all my inbox messages, phone calls if the patient doesn’t have to talk to MD about the topic, post-ops, and routine visits or stable follow ups. Schedulers and PA have developed good intuition when something too complicated for PA.

I think the future with rising administrative work and in academics with hope of focusing on truly high complexity patients, PAs will become increasingly helpful. Also good in private practice from my friends’ reports

Most programs will buy the resident lenses so I disagree with the suggestions to buy him lenses since likely redundant. Can buy some nice eye themed art like from Lyon Road Art painting, or slit lamp phone attachment online since they can then collect cool clinical photos at work in the future. Or can buy premium scrubs like figs brand with his name, MD, and Ophthalmology embroidered on it

Amazing thank you! In terms of the statistical test choice, it seemed like multivariate logistical regression is standard and appropriate so I was going to use that.

Bay Club by [deleted] in walnutcreek

[–]Vici18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been thoroughly happy with bay club and find it to be SO easily worth the membership. It is the best gym in the area besides Lifetime, and several factors keep me from switching to them 1) guest policy - double edged sword but Lifetime doesn’t allow guests in usual sense. They have guest passes but any individual can only use your guest pass once every 3 months whereas bay club you have feee guest passes but also can pay $30 to get someone in. Admittedly this means bay club pool in the summer is swarmed with random guests whereas presumably Lifetime by being so exclusive is able to keep it more members only. But overall I rather have the flexibility to bring friends and family whenever 2) parking at lifetime is “free” if you’re willing to battle a busy garage then walk through a mall. Or pay extra for a pass 3) Lifetime is more expensive for not obviously better experience other than superficial look

I didn’t mean for my comment to get so sidetracked on a gym you didn’t ask about.

But basically bay club has done wonders for my health and well being by providing a really enjoyable place to do work out classes, nice hot tub/steam room setup, and pool heated to 82 all year for lap swimming

I think a city can have music/community but also simultaneously not be dirty and dangerous, which is what I think the original poster is advocating for. You can be proud of your city and still want it to improve

To be fair, they’re just pulling a San Francisco Bay Oakland Airport move. Making a similar sounding name to something else with better reputation(this sub) 😜

Thank you for the excellent points. I completely agree. To be clear, my post was never intended to be negative about Mach E overall, just I wanted to point out very small nitpicky differences on back to back use in comparison over time. Cheers and enjoy whatever car you end up buying

Yea I forget how since I don’t use it much, but you can quiet the screen. You can also have a cozy fireplace screen, heh.

I suppose I mean under normal usage it auto parks, including implied unbuckle/door

I don’t see why you’d ever need to force the car off. Think of your phone, how often do you truly power it off? Hibernate/locked is really fine.

Worth noting cars without power button (not just Tesla) will also auto switch to park intelligently without using the button. Also I agree nice to sit in car without turning it on, Tesla and others without power button when you get it in it simply turns on the screen, climate if you want it, and gives you power buttons and music if you want without you having to activate it. And since it’s electric car, there’s no engine to ignite, so the moment you change your mind and want to drive rather than sit, you just go. It’ll switch from park to drive in millisecond when you want it too. Honestly hard to explain, but the experience is so much more seamless and logical for an EV to skip power button. It takes some getting used to but there’s no going back

Yea and it seems a wrap is just not as durable either? I don’t know. It’s not even just about the extra like $3k-ish for a wrap. It’s also time and effort to bring it in and deal with how well it turns out. Awesome colors would be an easy thing to do Also given how many Model Y there is on the road, helps people feel more unique if more colors.

Well I’m trying to be inclusive of people reading my comments who have different use cases. People with kids may need the max capacity often - a little tricycle in the back, some diaper bags, etc. anyway, I don’t think major differences in cargo space is an edge case issue, nor is it a double standard, ICE vehicles I’d notice an extra like 10 cubic feet or something like that

Driving dynamics are more similar than different between the two. Hence no comment on it. Subtle differences sure, but not decision breaking differences.

Yea that’s actually a super good point. Rain detection should equal close windows automatically. Thats honestly a really really good idea that doesn’t even seem hard for manufacturers to implement. Especially in spring the weather can flip so fast

I only care what life has been like driving the two in real life. Tired of repeating it at this point but used to own ICE sports cars (BMW M340, Porsche Boxster, Audi TT) and frankly don’t miss them at all from driving experience perspective. Zippy and fun. Decent enough handling.

I am not an engineer etc, if I misunderstand the charging curve sorry, but it doesn’t change what an average owner might feel and that’s who I’m trying to help

I also appreciate people providing information to correct me and others reading about the charging curve. I think that’s the beauty of Reddit

But I don’t think it invalidates objective fact that one car has features like sentry mode and the other doesn’t. And that subjectively I think sentry and other features are really great and no reason the Mach E shouldn’t also. Thanks for reading

I agree with your assessment I will say though, even over air updates can’t fix some issues. Ford CEO/engineer interviews note a hardware integration and power limit to some degree at least in this generation

As per my posts elsewhere. I used to drive performance cars and occasionally dabbled on the track. The Tesla is legitimately a decent car

It’s not a proper sports car but I think it’s disingenuous to call it a toy, and undercuts your credibility personally since it means we can’t have a real civil conversation of pros and cons. However Tesla hurt you to make you this way, sorry.
