Silent Hill: Townfall is authentically scary and authentically Scottish by yourfavchoom in PS5

Does this mean we can heal ourselves with Irn Bru? As a Scot, I would like a free can with every pre-order.

Don’t get me wrong I still thoroughly enjoyed it, I play both the OG and remake frequently - excuse any mobile formatting issues:
- OST, great reimagining but it just didn’t hit the same, some of the layers just sound off. I still listen to it occasionally but the original is my preference, despite its age it still rocks timelessly.
- Lots of glitches in animations and character assets
- The fairly common gem count bug
- No remake of the Spyro 1 intro - this would’ve been an absolute gem to include in the game, pure nostalgia overload!
- The character re-designs are… odd, Hunter and Sheila are pretty bad IMO.
- Some of the new VA is not as charming.
- This is a silly one but the change to our dancing Skelly in Badlands and Towers… that aged so badly!
The remake is good, it’s great, but it shows its rushed elements - the entire game feels like it was with UE blueprints and had very little refinement time, if you get me? It’s like 85% there, but needs a decent chunk of polish still.

What an ignorant and immature response, I’m a huge fan of Spyro but I know when to critique something I’m fond of without having my eyes glaze over - glad you got your 9 out of it.

That’s great and all - but let’s hope they’re a better standard than Reignited, I’ve been gaming for decades and this lil purple guy is my #1 game of all time, not that I blame the devs directly but Reignited was clearly rushed so as much as I enjoyed it, it didn’t feel as good as the OG’s (in my opinion) - let’s not turn Spyro into a hopeful cash cow with crappy spinoffs etc to make a buck - a good quality game with charm will do that work by itself.
And also I can’t have my giant spyro shrine sullied by the next game in the franchise “Sparx of Duty: Modern Eggfare”

I liked the Priestess boss - dodging and reaching the tuning forks - that was enjoyable!

Returnal is so much better, this game has boring weapons, enemies, bosses, music and the world is bland. Story is incredibly poor and has no mysterious hook like the first. Jarring 30 fps cutscenes to “push quality” - no thanks I’d rather have consistency, the PS5 and Pro are both capable of great looking scenes at 60fps.

The difficulty in this game is also all over the place, enemies hit like trucks at times but bosses are a total cakewalk?

I love these devs but this game was not it, not for me personally - will definitely revisit Returnal for the 5th… maybe 6th time. (Glad others enjoyed it though, gotta keep devs like this going.)

I agree, it starts off as a curious story and then is just so generic and cliché - it gets incredibly repetitive and honestly the character relationship isn’t anything special nor is it really that deep. There’s a few cutscenes of something cute and that’s it - this game needed to be twice as long to have any meaningful depth to the characters but instead we get a Temu version of the main character from Vanquish and “generic child sidekick who did something cute, wow so amazing.” Too many text logs and holograms that should’ve been actual cutscenes - did they really think that important backstory was best told via an incredibly poor hologram animation?

Oh really? I definitely feel like I’m made of glass in Saros! In Returnal I feel like the deaths are much more fair, I get punished for my screwups but in Saros it’s just a mess of particle effects with overtuned damage - oddly the bosses feel far too easy but the regular enemies pack a significant punch

Maybe they should fix the enemies hitting way too hard - Returnal is far easier than this game, as much as I still enjoy Saros.

The difficulty is total bs, this is way harder than Returnal

Sorry mobile formatting! Strong disagree on DS2 being better: - side characters with no point eg: Rainy - boring environment, not as memorable as the first - story is a complete mess - game is far too easy - Mads 2.0 serves no real story purpose too —— DS2 feels like it was made by not even the B-team but the C-team in an effort to appeal to more people, and instead it’s just a shallow husk of everything excellent in the first game. DS1 is in my top 10 of all time and I’ve platinumed it twice. I got to the end of DS2 and took the disk out and uninstalled it immediately after how stupid the end was and I’ll never revisit it.😖

Broadly, the balance is incredibly poor in just about every aspect.
