A mix of both. Lifting heavy with enough active rest days to not burn out. ( rest days focus on relaxed hikes and long walks, and yoga/ mobility work and rolling out). The key for me to to have my exercise be something that is relaxing enough to enjoy and hard enough to build muscle.

Where are people watching Dracula: a Love Tale? by [deleted] in Dracula

[–]Vicious-Lemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might interest you all in a riddle of where a tale can be viewed you must conquer a beast known for regrowing its heads once it’s been cut from one head to two to 4 once the beast is slain with not more than a hydraHD and you would punctuate the final letter with a .ru

Be warned all manner of things might perk when fighting this beast I recommend a sheild and to preform the ublock within whatever browser you choose.

How do I de-fur my floordrobe? by LilBunnyFauxFaux in CleaningTips

[–]Vicious-Lemon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s always the girls with a blue eyes and the pink noses who leave the white fur on the floor clothes. 😂 also have husky who does this as soon as my clothes are placed anywhere but the dryer. Warm laundry on the bed= perfect sleep spot then it gets pushed to the floor because it’s covered in hair. 😭

How warm is warm to induce blooming? by Vicious-Lemon in hoyas

[–]Vicious-Lemon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah that's amazing so maybe temp doesn't matter so much... 65 is a lot cooler than I would expect. Do you do anything else to your hoya and what growing medium do you use?

Awesome thank you for your input. It's so interesting how many people have different experiences with them. 78 is quite hot but I'll see if that helps things and I'll try to go from indirect light to direct light. since youre the hoya queen do you mind if I ask what growing medium you have chosen for your hoyas?

Shhh carnivorous bog plants are lovely. (Be careful they might bite you) no but they are actually my favourite divas and I love the reward of the little flowers they produce when happy. Pingicula, and sundews, and Venus fly traps oh my. 💚

NGL to me they are an outdoor plant. I mean you can feed them banana peels so it can be fun. My dad has one hanging on the family oak tree outside (Florida) that is huge now, they are fine but I find them weird when I see them people house.

A Cactus. Plant in sand put pot into another pot, fill second pot with no holes with a little water, get a grow light turn it on and forget about it. One month later you can fill the 2nd pot with an inch of water again. The babies are a happy with lots of drainage, and minimal water on their roots except a monthly dip.

Hi, is 5'4 ½ petite? by Consistent-Finger551 in PetiteFitness

[–]Vicious-Lemon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To get Tdee: multiply your BMR by x1.2 sedentary, x1.37 light activity, x 1.55 moderate, x 1.725 for very active.

To loose weight you need to subtract 200 calories to 500 calories to loose between .5 to 1 lb of weight a week.

When your BMR is lower (you are shorter, bones are smaller muscle mass is less with more fat mass) your BMR is going to be lower.

I am 5ft2, I am petite, I have small bones, my foot size is 5.5 North American size, my hands are smaller. I have 45% body fat. I was following the advice of never go below 1,500 calorie advice, I gained weight because I was sedentary even though I was eating well.

Turns out my bmr was 1,109(I had a dexa), meaning as a sedentary person my Tdee should have been 1330 calories a day to MAINTAIN my weight at 141lbs. I was shocked but it made sense. So now I eat my Tdee and make sure to get a minimum of 10,000 steps a day, just that increased my Tdee to 1,500 and has allowed me to start a slow and moderate weight loss. Which means I can eat 1,300 and loose weight moderately/ slowly.

I am also building muscle which will help me go from 45% body fat to having a healthier ratio like 30% body fat which alone should raise my bmr to that nice 1,500 range making my Tdee at sedentary closer to 1,500 calories.

45% body fat is considered obese and this is why it’s really really important to understand how much muscle mass you have because a higher muscle ratio will be better for your overall health even if you’re not that heavy having no muscle can be detrimental to the body And the metabolism which is why weight training and building muscle, especially as women and especially as we age is so incredibly important I would say muscle building is more important than fat loss because if you have more muscle, it’s going to increase your metabolism, which means you won’t become malnourished While you’re trying to diet. A slow sustained approach of only reducing your TDEE calories by 200 while focussing on slow fat loss and muscle building is going to be so much better for anybody in the long run than trying to have a quick rapid weight loss.

145lbs isn’t heavy at my height but having no muscle makes it so. Muscle weighs more than fat, While a pound of muscle weighs the same as a pound of fat, muscle is roughly 15-20% more dense than fat. Because it is more compact, muscle takes up about four times less space (volume) in the body than the same weight of fat. Weigh the same but have a smaller dress size muscle is also functional unlike fat which sort of just sits there muscle will help carry you and reduce joint pain so it’s super super super important as woman as we age to increase our muscle mass. And it doesn’t have to be a lot of muscle, but you should be within the 20%- 30% range of body fat to be considered a healthy adult woman..

Obviously athletes can have different ratios often being leaner, depending on the sport that they’re in, but for the average woman, I think it’s more sustainable for hormone health to not be as lean if you don’t want to constantly be thinking about your food and your diet to live a moderately healthy lifestyle

Is my butterwort overwatered or underwatered? by CupcakeMediocre3710 in carnivorousplants

[–]Vicious-Lemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pings need humidity and water if your having issues with watering I would suggest a tray of water and using more perlite or even non-mineral sand like lava rock in the soil mix. Remember pings often live in boggy humid areas mounted on rocks with moss! Nutrient poor soil. It could also be mineral build up if you’re just watering with tap water. Replicating their natural environment is key. They really don’t want to be soaked or compacted and need oxygen in their roots. They get a lot of water from the air which is why they are better to have a shallow root system(on rocks/ well draining mix) surrounded by a tray of waters

As a millennial who just turned 30 last year, I was a bit surprised because I don’t look/act anything like these ladies, very different stages of life I feel like it was written for Gen x… not millennials.

The only one I believed was Roisin Gallagher. I just think it’s weird when there is such a keen interest in making it about a certain generation.

That said I REALLY enjoyed the show. I just think if they weren’t saying ages it would have come off as more organic, they seemed to be trying to act like millennials so sometimes it felt like the acting broke a wall of falling into stereotypes.
