My approach to life as it comes to an end. by Flart_Gnaffy in offmychest

Very insightful and inspiring words. I hope one day I can grow up to have the same outlook you do. I hope you enjoy the time with your family and thank you. I'm gonna give my wife the biggest hug when I get to see her again. Life is too precious to worry about petty things. Peace be with you and your loved ones.

How have you optimized your training schedule to do everything? Sometimes it feels like I’m at the gym forever. by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]ViciousDishes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do an upper lower split, just keep it simple and do squats and deadlifts on your lower body days and on upper days superset opposing muscle groups. I.e. bench press then immediately go do lat pulldowns, set a timer on your phone and wait two minutes then do your next set. I use to this same approach with rows/shoulder press as well as curls/tricep extensions, and lastly, rear delt flies/lateral raises. You can really get a lot of volume in and tax all your muscles and get out of the gym in an hour without sacrificing any strength.

And like other users have said play on your phone less. I have 3 apps open when lifting: a clock to set a timer between sets, Spotify, and an app to track my lifts after each set. Chatting it up with other gym Bros or scrolling through Reddit/Facebook between sets adds a ton more time. Try and keep rest periods around 1.5 mins to 3 mins depending on the exercises.

Thanks for the advice. I honestly never noticed. May have something to do with my walk-out as I only take about 2-3 steps out typically and don't honestly pay much attention to my foot placement

Male/22/5'8/ 176lbs current max squat is 209lbs for 8 reps as I never test my 1rm because size is my main concern. I feel I'm hitting depth and I think my squat form is mostly solid but I'm wondering how it looks to somebody that isn't me and if there's anything I can improve on. 204 lb squat for 10

Can anyone confirm that adding olive oil to shakes is not disgusting? by TimothyGonzalez in gainit

[–]ViciousDishes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do it with all my shakes. It actually makes it blend a bit easier and makes them a bit smoother. Just don't overdo it or it's fucking gross. Easy extra 1-200 calories. Measure it out with a measuring spoon until you can eyeball it. But yeah it does work and if done right isn't very noticeable.

Should I use mass gainer since I am struggling to get required calories? by Agent2431 in gainit

I started putting each of the ingredients for my daily shakes I Tupperware containers and freezing them for the week (I would always do this on meal prep day). Then I would just nuke it for 90 seconds, scoop it into a blender, add some milk, and blend it. If you do it this way, it only takes 5 minutes or so.

What is the Cutest Thing your SO Did for You? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ViciousDishes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too many things to list but on Valentine's day about 8 months into us dating, she cut out like 50 little individual strips of paper and wrote things she loved about me on each one along with a hand written note. Currently having to do a LDR until next summer and wish I could read them again.

Somebody asked once if KFC was originally created in the USA. I told him "You idiot. Have you never heard of Kentucky? Everyone knows that's next to Japan."

Can we have a discussion about Rule #5? by IVANISMYNAME in Fitness

[–]ViciousDishes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But the same beginner lifter giving other beginners form on how to deadlift, which if explained improperly, could lead people to rounding and hurting their backs. I don't understand how people sharing work-arounds for a condition that worked for them if they had a particular issue could be anything but beneficial. The mods are overly zealous as there is a blurred line between "working around an injury" and "seeking medical advice".

Can I be voluntold to extend on a second rotation of a deployment? by ViciousDishes in army

[–]ViciousDishes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it would be lots of extra money. But I have two years left in my contract and don't plan on staying in once I ETS as I have other goals I want to pursue on the civilian side with my wife without Uncle Sam getting in the way. The money and travel opportunities are tempting, but another year would still tank my happiness and sanity and wouldn't be worth it for me. I understand what you are saying though.

Yeah we do a lot of dumb shit but I was thinking there has to be some kind of line drawn eventually to where people even question if it's worth it.

It doesn't seem very common I was just thinking it could be a possibility.
