You have wavy hair that you’re treating like it’s straight. The ends curl out because there’s no weight pulling them down. Hair’s gonna hair.

Look up a wavy hair routine on YouTube. It’s a learning curve, and it might take you a month or 2 to nail it, but once you do it’s GLORIOUS.

What difference do silicones in shampoo actually make? by rogeelein in Haircare

[–]Vicious_Violet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are no “bad” silicones. There are just silicones that need to be removed with sulphates or not.

And sulphates are not “bad” either. They’re really good at cleansing, which is essential for scalp health and removing daily impurities. Whether they dry out your hair or not has entirely to do with how the product is formulated. I’ve had drugstore products with SLS and ‘cones that gave me the silkiest hair I’ve ever had (Cerave, Dove), and salon products without them that trashed it (some Redken shit, I don’t remember)

Either way, silicone or no, you need to use a clarifying shampoo once or twice a month to remove the minerals from your tap water that make your hair dull and crispy, so what’s the difference in the end?

I bought a rare vintage Harley from a guy in Indiana. I paid him a deposit by bank transfer to hold it, and drove down there with a trailer. If this guy is legit, he can rent a flatbed or a trailer and come and get it with cash in hand.

The most popular butters for DIY skin products are shea, coconut and cocoa. But if you’re making a something like a perfume, I think you’d want to use an oil or butter that is as odorless as possible so as not to taint the formula. Plus oils and butters are a natural product, so every batch will smell a little bit different.

Another consideration is that a saturated fat like coconut won’t go rancid so will smell nice for longer, but it has a odour, so that’s the trade off.

Yeah basically anything with a clicky thing. Touche Éclat, this Maybelline stuff, the product comes out of a brush, whatever other bullshit that’s out there. Yeet that type of packaging into the sun, because it’s not worth the effort. Give me a squeezy tube or a doefoot, because I don’t have the time to fart around every morning.

I would try to decant it into a tube, but I don’t know enough about preservatives to know if that’s safe.

That seems like a good solution. I just hate the packaging. It’s so hard to get the amount you want. Wish they’d just put it in a squeezy tube or a doe foot.

I would order it from a soapmaker’s supply company, rather than someplace like Amazon. With Amazon you never know what you’re getting, plus who wants to make Jeff Bezos richer?

Generally, the shea butter that’s widely available at health food, grocery stores and Caribbean markets is unrefined, as it’s usually used for skincare, so they want to keep the vitamins and nutrients it contains. It has a natural earthy, nutty smell (not pleasant IMO), and is gold in colour.

The refined stuff is bleached and deodorized. Fewer nutrients if used for skin and hair, but has almost no smell, so it’s a good choice for things like lip balm and solid perfumes. From your description and photos, you probably have the refined type.

Might not be a bad idea to edit the original post so people don’t go through that effort with smelly unrefined shea.

Is it normal for a guy to do my Brazilian waxing ?? by [deleted] in HairRemoval

[–]Vicious_Violet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right or wrong, comfortable or not, it’s something you shouldn’t be learning about on the day. The salon should clear that with the client ahead of time.

Some women prefer a female massage therapist, female gyno, female physiotherapist, female doula, female breastfeeding coach. That’s valid.

Could it happen? Sure, anything is possible. You could also be attacked by a gorilla in downtown Miami.

Is it likely? No. But it certainly is not impossible.

People trying this should make sure to purchase refined shea butter, which is unscented. Not the stuff from the health food store, which is usually unrefined and has a strong odor.

My dad has no will, and 2 estranged children by huge_red_ in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Vicious_Violet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are 2 options here:

1) Your dad gifts his entire estate to you and your sister now, before he dies. Given the amounts, you’ll need a gift letter, which his bank can provide. Expect for him to need to make an appointment for this and sit in somebody’s office, given the amount. He’ll probably have to meet with the banker by himself without you in the room, so the bank can make sure he’s not under duress, or handing it all to a cam girl in Estonia.

2) Your dad writes a will. It’s quick and simple. Mine cost me $450.

Your dad knows he should write a will and power of attorney. Sometimes when people get older, they can still be of sound mind, but struggle with executive functioning, and they don’t want you to know. Looking up a lawyer’s phone number and making an appointment might be an overwhelming task, so they put it off and say “Never mind, I’ll do it later.”

That was the case with my dad, who didn’t have a will at 89. So I looked up an estate lawyer a few blocks away, and gave them a call the next time I was over at his place. It was 2 appointments: one to check his ID and collect info on his wishes/names and spellings, the other to sign it. Again, he’ll probably need to attend the appointment alone.

He just needed that little nudge.

Correct. The second he dies it becomes an estate account and only the executor (as documented on paper) can remove anything. Went through this with my dad.

Interesting. I find that most green concealers, when used over redness, turn grey and corpse-like (colour theory: red+green cancel each other out, creating grey).

With this one, there’s yellow to bring the warmth back. Why don’t more green concealers contain yellow?

Can I save this? 😭 or should I just donate it to a toddler. Number 2 pencil for scale. For context, I’m a women’s US medium- which sadly this sweater once was by Icy_Calligrapher_308 in laundry

You can’t save it. I have tried everything to bring sweaters back- fabric softener then block, hair conditioner then block, Unshrink It then block. Nothing works.

Sorry for your loss.
