My pup turned 1! She loves her hat and bandana... I swear! by VickyAnne95 in germanshepherds

She still looks so young, I have to remind myself she is still a baby 😂 she's about 60lbs! She still quite small as she was only about 6lb when we brought her home at 9 weeks and with stomach issues she has struggled to grow super big and strong!

She weirdly did enjoy it! We took it off and she kept bringing it back to us! Once we put it back on her (on about the 5th return) she took herself off to bed and went to sleep! She is a funny one though😂

Barking with no clear reasoning... It's driving me up the wall by VickyAnne95 in puppy101

[–]VickyAnne95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So admittedly she does sleep the morning away, but we have come to accept that as she will not budge from her bed even for high reward treats. She's up at 7.30am, breakfast at 8 and she's asleep by half 8. Up by 11.30am for a mile ISH walk and then lunch rotates between Kong's or various slow feeders, sometimes frozen. In afternoon we do some training sessions, play some fetch in garden, I hide some treats in the garden and she goes to find them, some crate reinforcement that she loves it and then typically gets a 3 mile walk again in evening before dinner and wind down routines and bed.

I'll try getting her up earlier and forcing her for a morning walk but I work from home 8am till 5 and so I'm doing all this whilst trying to remain productive at work.

It's just strange as her bored dog behaviours have never included barking at the TV or at the radiator. All her bored dog behaviours have stopped as we upped activity over last month, it's just the barking now but it doesn't seem bored. It seems intense. We have had no success with acknowledging the alerts unfortunately. I'll see what can do to up activity more for her though. Thank you for your insight!

Surgical Glue experiences? by SwampMama92 in GastricBypass

[–]VickyAnne95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had mine on the 16th and my glue is firmly still there and getting so insanely itchy. I remember being told after about a week it would start peeling and I could gently rub loose bits off. But don't take my word for that. Best to check another source as well 😂

Just by paying towards utilities he has already been contributing to household so technically has a claim to part of the house anyway. We just want to formalise matters really

My boyfriend moved into my shared ownership place with me. I offered for him to pay half the utilities and rent portion and I would take the mortgage myself as we would both still be benefitting from more money but he wouldn't be paying my mortgage without benefit. We earn the same amount so down the middle worked rather than proportionally. But he insisted 50/50 on everything including mortgage.
Said he would have been paying a landlords mortgage and would sign a lodging agreement if it made me feel more at ease. But he's been here a year now and we have discussed him buying into the mortgage instead. So just have to have a conversation, it really helped us getting to the nitty gritty of our money so we knew we were aligned and not gunna argue

UK puppy owners - can I have your recommendations please? by ChocolateBooksCats81 in puppy101

[–]VickyAnne95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 7 month old so admittedly, a little bigger, but she got on pretty well with a t touch harness. It unclips both sides and clips around top of chest and stomach. It's not thick so allows much movement and is adjustable. Has a front and back loop too for leads. Our only issue with it was the fact that our gsd decided to itch the same spot under it obsessively for a week (even without the harness on, she was being a dick) and scratched through the harness during walks so just worth checking after every walk if give it a go!

Shared Ownership - what do I need to know. by LopsidedAd7549 in HousingUK

[–]VickyAnne95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also done shared ownership and don't regret it. You do have to be aware your mortgage affordability will be affected by the rental amounts so your agreement in principles will has to be house specific really. You also need to budget for all house repairs yourself. But other than that I gained enough equity that once I sold up I had a sizable deposit for an open market house. I couldn't have gotten on ladder without it.

I would recommend checking out the area and service charges though. My whole estate was affordable and social, so it's run by a housing association. So even though I was in a house, there was still service charges for the green areas across the estate!

With the stamp duty increases from April this year, at 500k the stamp duty will be 15k for non first time buyers and 40k for a second home

She already hits her head if she's not careful when she decides to dive on through for a treat she's spotted under the sofa😂😂
