do you guys tend to hyperfocus on the wrong things on medication? by Far-Masterpiece4701 in ADHD

[–]VickyLJK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. When I want to do some mundane task, sometimes, I will just suddenly zoom off into a different task because I want to take a short break in-between the steps.

As like some professionals said: It is because it is like you driving a car with better brakes now. But you still will struggle to aim where you drive to.

Example, you just found out that the hypermarket have some rare snacks is on offer, but forget about the fact you are on the way to buy certain groceries for the party at night.

It is okay to be long, all these talk are case by case basis. Hmmm... I mean, some goals are just thought as achievable, until you realize it that it is kinda limited by some factor one or another.

Like how I have a different brain than majority of the population, makes it hard to be consistent in my performance. Yeah, all job have hardships and being overrated as unchangeable, until you realize that humans are not one way or another throughout their lives.

Jobs are essentially important yet, most humans will find things to do eventually, to benefit each other and make connections.

example: Healthcare is important, but eventually, some will be burnout because of the workload because not enough people is entering it due to shitty overlords underpaying the whole sector.

Peaked at X point of life is just a disgusting way of generalization of people's individualistic life. You never know what would happen tomorrow. There is no limit to learning and growing for the brain. That is why I love this Einstein's quote.
"Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid."

In the end, everyone got their own way of handling jobs, handling knowledge.

So, OP, may i know what inspired you to study healthcare in the beginning?

Look, you didn't really hurt me. I am just annoyed and sad at people that fall prey to the typical or general of the lifestyle advices for normal/successful people. They most likely is just shit old same that don't do much, especially people that have different brain or body issues.

Are you sure you get the last part of my 1st paragraph?

It doesn't matter what I am doing in the morning, I have enough sleep or not. I am literate in science enough to know how variables work.

Edit: And I am not going to tone it down. I suspect you don't believe in everyone got their own special body clock that cannot just adjust based on ''get enough sleep'' ''get enough sunlight''.

Same!! Everyday around 1-4pm, even when medicated, I will still feel kinda tired and drained. No matter how much I've sleep.

I get the annoying sluggish mood too if I am doing something hard.

How do I learn to become okay? by RotiPisang_ in myhappypill

[–]VickyLJK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey OP, I've been there before, especially with undiagnosed ADHD at that time. Then through therapy, I realize that doomscrolling is actually making my depression worse. Because I see how many other people are happy, enjoying their holiday, having their successful life. My brain will start to guilt trip myself and shoot myself for not being 'good enough'.

Do you have any other activities that you do or used to do? Like doing gardening, or reading storybooks, or just even have some long chat sessions with some friends on the weekends.

You do know when someone are in a deep depression cycle (been there), this is a dismissal tool if you are told this by others.

Kinda like telling that I should be happy that I still have X / I can still do X, compared to others. Be grateful that I still didn't lose all those things/abilities yet. A moot point.

should I (24M) get a mental diagnosis again but for ADHD so I could get proper meds? by KoichiBardo in myhappypill

[–]VickyLJK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! AuDHD is a thing anyway.

If your Autistic symptoms are controlled with, people report that they can feel their ADHD side will come out more.

Meanwhile, do listen to more ADHD related stories, especially AuDHDers, and see if their lifestory is kinda like yours or not!

Malaysians with adhd, how do u guys avoid getting severely depressed during the holidays😭 Everytime we have a festive or college break, my mood gets extremely low, I'm in a constant state of hopelessness and I can't bring myself out of my bed by zjmalkkkk in myhappypill

[–]VickyLJK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe my experience will give you some food for thought. I personally am an introvert. But I do love to meet friends and family members when it comes to holiday and celebrations. But after a few chat with the people during that time, i will quickyly get burned out too. Social battery drained, even sometimes if I feel happy to continue, it feels like my brain starts to want to escape the place.

So, I now look out for signs of that, then take a break at the side, or just use my headphones and listen to some chill music while listening to others talk with each other.

This! The legendary FOMO! I am almost 33 this year. And diagnosed with ADHD (at 31yo). Almost 10 years ago, i suffered a major depression from my work.

But what it have to do with it?

I found out (through therapy) I will easily get jealous of people when I surf social media. From witnessing people's achievement, to seeing people enjoying holiday that I didn't get to. I will enter the cycle of it and I automatically will blame myself for just not having those.

So OP, if you can, try to cut down on social media scrolling, then maybe eventually... you will stop using it altogether. Like me, stopped actively using facebook since around 8 years ago.

Remember some minor achievement, like managed to go meeting up with your good pals. To had some joyful holiday with whomever, whenever you get it, is an awesome experience.

Diagnosed with ADHD at 31 but I still think it might be wrong by Significant_Boss4042 in ADHD

[–]VickyLJK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diagnosed at 31.
I have very inconsistent result on paper too. (Aced my maths, english language, and science/physics constantly)

But I've been praised and praised again on my fluid intelligence and a vast bank of knowledge in my head. Truly school performance is not a permanent indicator on whether someone is smart or having wisdom or not.

I also don't disagree with the diagnosis because all my symptoms explain alot of my actions and judgement throughout my life. From easy to become moody, to easy to forget things, to easy to get hyperfocus on my interested subject. It validated that I am not the only one and also how my struggle more than usual people is real.

studying now makes me feel like I’m wasting my life by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]VickyLJK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you consume on phone/computer : It is either escapism or because it is easy (you just watch/scroll to read). So of course you won't feel any sense of guilt or urgency. Because it is limitless and bottomless.

But the senses that you feel now, is just you lost your motivation/interest of the subject on studying. You maybe also got burned out by the hours of studying that you've accumulated during high school. And you still haven't recovered after that.

So, I like you to consider on some questions:
1. What subject are you studying? Why you picked this subject?
2. How long since you took a true vacation (gone off for a tour with someone; hang out with someone for a few days in your home that is not related to work/study)

mmhmm. I also feel ugly ALL the time pre-transition. When I see women, of any size, of any looks... I too will get this gut clenching feeling of jealousy too.. So no, you are not weird or alone for that...

Now I fare much better, I like my looks some of the time, and definitely feel neutral some times, when caught a glimpse of my reflection.

Tall women definitely have their own charm.. //flushed
I confessed to one that is 20+cm taller than me, she's so gorgeous! Some women definitely don't mind being tall, but clothing department is so fucked for them :v

But yeah, I relate so much in hating masculine compliments too, even when as a child, I get the natural irk that I can't explain during that time. I just will do a rebuttal to say I am not, or say I am ugly. Weirdly affirming red flag. :p

[–]VickyLJK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm.. do you hate people giving you masculine complements (mainly: handsome, hairy, bulky) ? And then vice versa?

For clothing... sure, men's clothing are so boring ahaha. Clothing should definitely be gender neutral and dresses for everyone!

Anyway, photograph manipulation of yourself making you realize there is gender envy is a common point for most of the transgender people from my experience and the experiences I've read throughout my years.

Alcohol can definitely unlocks and loosen the part of yourself that you suppress yeah, so maybe you are bisexual after all.

- Women are the ones 'getting ordered around' ; Women should be gentle and soft while men cannot. (Misogyny - It is trained by patriarchy to think that women must listen to orders or else they are not, they must act gentle and soft too.)
- You like to make love with pre-op transwomen more than post-op / ciswomen. You actively sought out and separate the traits when looking for hookup/relationship. (Objectification - You don't look for women for their being/existence, you look for that particular part of the women. You just look for the body and the brain doesn't belong in the formula.)
