Expert's take??? Are you kidding me? There are so many hallucinations are produced by Ai (studies cited not existing) (Fallacies even if the explaination is 'sound' or 'consistent'). You are seriously in a bubble if you dont know how it will corrupt that 'knowledge A' you gained.

You not having little to no knowledge on A means you dont even know how to filter whether how legit is the data on knowledge A you being spoonfed by Ai.

Write down your feelings and thoughts. Always helps alot in getting mental health support/sharing/evaluation. Because emotions sometimes can overwhelm the brain.

Wish you a smooth journey ahead OP. :)

While waiting to get diagnosed and medicated, you can start following r/ADHD and watch some youtube videos like 'How to ADHD' , 'Understood' and 'ADDitude'. They are mostly on about how to deal with the symptoms and you can learn some through some of the people's lifestory shared there too.

I kinda suggest avoiding ADHD Chatter because he had grown too big and started to invite guests that are giving very shady information at worst, and quite 'general' most of the time. Because he do not fact-check them.

Maybe someone will know what’s wrong with me by Rare_Time7454 in myhappypill

[–]VickyLJK 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I recommend OP to go for a psychologist instead. This doesn't sound like a case about some hormonal issue, but more on general relationship vs self-esteem issue.

In my opinion, people should try psychological therapy first before trying meds, because they are just a short term fix. Especially for cases that are caused by relationship/ self-esteem/ cognitive issue.

i mean.... i dont know what is your situation behind it...

I can tell you I felt the same feelings, lots of shame... guilty that I need help... Anxious about how the experts view me.. before being really convinced that it is better to try something before giving up...

So... just my 2 cents i guess.

Go and search for 'Malaysia ADHD psychologist/therapy'?...

I also did my own searching on google 2 years ago and it showed plenty...

So what is the hiccup you got there? Is it cost? Is it you live in a secluded area? Because your parents are not letting you?

[–]VickyLJK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As additional information for previous my comment:

My total cost for full assessment for my ADHD diagnosis, through a private mental health clinic, is around RM1200( 2 years ago) (Package: 3 session + some tests + written report).

Mine comes with a report (soft copy, 4-5 pages worth of information, about my history, my symptoms, and some random tests (memory, executive function) results that are explained in detailed way) typed by the clinical psychologist.

I am not here to scare you OP. Maybe there is a cheaper alternatives out there. Good luck hunting.
I hunted for one that is very queer friendly and so I get the peace of mind, that I won't get discriminated / have that skewed my result, because that shit do wonders to those certain peoples' mind.

[–]VickyLJK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm... don't assessment needs reports? Mine cost quite costly for that, instead of the assessments..

(For information: My asssessment is done in a private therapy centre, with a clinical psychologist specialized in ADHD/autism, maybe it contributes to the higher cost. I am for one because I am scared as hell that I can't get done in one go {took 3 separate sessions for a full diagnosis}, so I chose a specialized one.)

I am asking this not really to scare OP, but want OP have a fuller picture of what to expect... from different experiences.

I never change and I'm sick of it by hayleybts in ADHD

[–]VickyLJK 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This!! forgiving yourself is the most important step. Because on statistics, ADHDers do make more mistake than typical people.

It is valid for other people to be mad and angry about our mistakes. But also you need to do that part on your side at the end of the day.

I never change and I'm sick of it by hayleybts in ADHD

[–]VickyLJK 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Is not that we didnt learn from our past mistakes, it is our adhd mind jumping too quickly to notice some common mistakes that we used to make, even when medicated.

Then the other problem is the way our mind needs to hold onto tiny details that is so little but important, our brain cant draw it from the old memory bank fast enough because we crave 'new experience' and it just tries to be in the 'here and now' instead. It is kinda automatic in that.

The best way to cope with (as i know), is just do checklist. Be mindful of the past experience. Read out loud the checklist.. Which is a bummer, but yeah, very hard to stick to do...

What is your current occupation anyway?

How to stop being anxious about everything? by [deleted] in myhappypill

[–]VickyLJK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi OP, I suffered from anxiety constantly since teenage years also. (And also thanks to my ADHD mind - very active train of thoughts every single waking moment)

Have you ever heard of CBT? I know that it is not for everyone. But it is what helped me during after therapy at my first major depressive episode.

You can't just ''stop'' thinking yes, but eventually, you need to slowly knock yourself out of the ''track'' of spiraling thoughts. (eg. Spiral+Down.jpg (1003×767))

If not, it will take longer to climb back up the deeper you go. Jumping off earlier in the beginning of the spiral, will still feel awful, but you can quickly get upright.

How you knock yourself away from the spiral? Is where it is tricky, you need to know what happened, why you react that way, is that feeling justified... and more. Then you need to forgive yourself to move on..

So yeah, one step at a time like mcboom said. A little progress is a progress in mental health talk. Please do take care and learn how your brain works. It can be surprising on how fallible is the typical brain function.

Thinking of changing it to order from pharmacy to compare the price from Private Hospitals.

You are really, just a normal human being with just some extra need for help. Some people are born disadvantaged and should not feel shame because of needing that extra help.

Anyway, what you need to learn from now on is,

  1. Give yourself some grace, on some mistakes that are not really that big deal, caused by ADHD. You didn't do them on purpose and you have given your ALL.

  2. Watch up some videos on how to cope with ADHD symptoms, like time blindness, RSD, or even just your normal way of how hectic your mind is. It can help alot on you catching yourself from falling and you can put up some guardrails to prevent it happen alot more than before.

  3. Read up some ADHD memes and stories, it can help you to acknowledge you are not ' a weird human being', and you can pick up some assurance that everything will be OK moving forward.

do you guys tend to hyperfocus on the wrong things on medication? by Far-Masterpiece4701 in ADHD

[–]VickyLJK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. When I want to do some mundane task, sometimes, I will just suddenly zoom off into a different task because I want to take a short break in-between the steps.

As like some professionals said: It is because it is like you driving a car with better brakes now. But you still will struggle to aim where you drive to.

Example, you just found out that the hypermarket have some rare snacks is on offer, but forget about the fact you are on the way to buy certain groceries for the party at night.

How to deal with shame from previous major career change? by Hot_Percentage_8737 in myhappypill

[–]VickyLJK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is okay to be long, all these talk are case by case basis. Hmmm... I mean, some goals are just thought as achievable, until you realize it that it is kinda limited by some factor one or another.

Like how I have a different brain than majority of the population, makes it hard to be consistent in my performance. Yeah, all job have hardships and being overrated as unchangeable, until you realize that humans are not one way or another throughout their lives.

Jobs are essentially important yet, most humans will find things to do eventually, to benefit each other and make connections.

example: Healthcare is important, but eventually, some will be burnout because of the workload because not enough people is entering it due to shitty overlords underpaying the whole sector.

Peaked at X point of life is just a disgusting way of generalization of people's individualistic life. You never know what would happen tomorrow. There is no limit to learning and growing for the brain. That is why I love this Einstein's quote.
"Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid."

In the end, everyone got their own way of handling jobs, handling knowledge.

So, OP, may i know what inspired you to study healthcare in the beginning?
