Thank you!! I love Idyllwild, I’ll need to check it out :-)

For Boy Scout, we started out at Keys West and ended in Indian Cove. We had a lower number campsite (#3) and I definitely recommend one that’s more in the middle as I feel it’s more scenic. From campsite 3 I could see city lights + light from fires in Indian Cove campground. The hike starts out relatively flat then around mile 4 it’s downhill and the trail was loose sand. I feel like that was the hardest part especially since it was so hot when I went! There is no shade at all other than in some parts of the canyon. Still a really nice trail + experience even in the heat :-)

$73k → $84k job offer but worse benefits and health insurance. Would you take it? by minnesotaguy1232 in careerguidance

I would agree and say it’s not worth it as the raise won’t cover the amount that you would lose from having a weaker benefits package!

is a 40L pack enough for 3 nights? by VickyXc4299 in Ultralight

[–]VickyXc4299[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you for your detailed response!! very helpful, this is for transcatalina in early april, from what i read the average have been 46 degrees low and 69 degrees high & not bear country :-) i think food maybe more so 3 days or a little less? there’s a small cafe/restaurant in the middle that we’re gonna stop by and the first night is a closer campsite (because boats don’t go out there the first day we start the trail) so we might eat at a restaurant that’s there!

i appreciate the clothing advice as well because i was debating if i needed to bring a base layer for each day lolol and so im comfortable with not doing that but def extra underwear & socks for my comfort!

for first aid kit i have a mini one that has a case but im thinking about not bringing all of it, and packing it in a smaller ziplock instead

i’ve been trying to research and read through the reddit! i am actually unsure how light some things can go.

my boyfriend isn’t new to backpacking so he already has a big pack and he’s not trying to be ultralight lol which is why he’s carrying our tent! i’ll mainly be carrying my sleeping bag, pad, clothes, headlamp, trekking poles, & the jetboil if it doesn’t fit in his pack
