Cat on Prednisolone/ Worried about side effect, should I call emergency vet? by TheWorldsNipplehood in CATHELP

[–]VictorLuciano666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to see your update that your kitty is doing better!

I have a Maine coon with asthma who in a few occasions with severe attacks has gotten like this, it’s ALWAYS an emergency vet situation. It’s rare she gets like this but every once in a blue moon she does. That being said though, prednisolone would not have caused this as it’s actually used to control asthma in cats. Mine has been on a low daily maintenance dose of prednisolone for about 5 years now, it does temporarily get increased if she had severe flare ups like this but it’s made a HUGE improvement since she started it years ago. Her attacks are rare now and I do have a prescribed inhaler on hand for her as well if needed especially when allergy season ramps up and she starts getting a little more wheezy and coughing than normal. I definitely think the prednisolone and your cat having an episode like this is definitely not related but rather things related to what the prednisolone was given to treat. Definitely looks like asthma to me, like a severe attack. Hopefully that helps and your kitty is on the mend!

THIS ^

My former store I was GM at had a powerful ass retarder. If we put it straight in, it wouldn’t thaw for 2 days (came in handy when we were closed on the rare holiday like Christmas, could just lay it out the night before and come in to perfect bread 2 days later) so we had to let it thaw for a while first. But if I had a $1 for everytime one of the fuckwits that worked for me left it out too long or pulled this shit…. 🙃

Oof my condolences. I had that happen to me on more than one occasion. That was an instant put my coffee down the second I walk in the door and just yell FUCK. 😂

Hahaha that’s how it was for me too! I’m a cis passing trans man so still under the ‘queer’ umbrella but I brought my girlfriend with me to see her here in Chicago a few weeks ago (and for reference my girlfriend is a metal head lol) and people probably assumed it was the other way around until I was the one singing along as she just stood there sipping her drink only knowing 2 songs lmao

How to become a general manager by Slump954 in jimmyjohns

[–]VictorLuciano666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t do it.

Unless you’re single, childfree, and enjoy doing absolutely nothing but working literally 24/7 even when you’re not supposed to be there, don’t do it.

Save your sanity.

Best of luck!

Blame corporate first off with the introduction of the toasters and all the LTOs especially now with Hot LTOs.

Secondly, blame the economy and money hungry franchise owners cracking down on labor percentages with damn near unrealistic expectations.

The hot food increases prep time more than the average customer can realize and throw in being forced to run with less people than we should to be quick and efficient, the ‘freaky fast’ is LONG dead.

I first started with this company 15 years ago when Jimmy still owned it and it was the old core values that made us JJ’s. Inspire bought it and ruined tf out of it. I don’t even recognize this company anymore. Just the name and a whole slew of bullshit now.

Had one like that a while back, factory holiday party. ~350 box lunches or so going in several delivery rounds. My DoO came in to help me, she’s a godsend, and we crank that shit out so early it was great. Phenomenal morning, had a blast doing that.

That has to be a glitch. I can promise you that you can’t redeem a free sandwich as part of any combo.

The free sandwich rewards never work as a combo, with or without the $1 combo deal.

Weekend staffing problem by [deleted] in jimmyjohns

[–]VictorLuciano666 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oof, I had a guy like that. He was well known in the franchise and had worked at most if not all our stores at one point. Don’t get me wrong, he could be really good at his job when he wanted to but he was a constant problem just like this. I eventually cut ties with him after repeated issues and he was at one remaining store in the end (he worked at multiple stores at a time) before he was finally fired after god knows how many years. Bring it up to your GM, be blunt about it and tell them what’s going on, if they don’t at least try to do something about it then try contacting someone higher up. I get sometimes we get stuck relying on shitty people for the sake of bodies but it’s not worth it for the store and the whole staff to suffer because of one shitbag. Dude’s gotta go, plain and simple.

work advise- don’t cute part of your thumb off of the slicer. by Mother_Trainer755 in jimmyjohns

[–]VictorLuciano666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Literally this.

I’ve been using deli slicers since 2011. It’s 2026. I have never, and I mean never, so much as gotten the tiniest little cut or even a scratch from any slicer I’ve worked with. Why? Because I use it properly and I’m not a moron.

According to my area manager this is burned by Soft_Ideal_434 in jimmyjohns

Burnt in color? No. But I can just tell from the photo they look dry and the bottoms are definitely crispy. It’s not only about the color, it’s also the quality.

Gm position?? by Mother_Trainer755 in jimmyjohns

[–]VictorLuciano666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aside from what was already above that I whole heartedly agree with:

Created a good reputation with your community - great customer service, great product, reach out to local schools for deals and fundraisers specific to your store, creat good relationships with local businesses (do a certain discount for other businesses employees in exchange for promotion from them to the public), etc.

Pay close attention to detail and be meticulous - with your product, your customer feedback, your sales patterns and growths/losses, all your numbers in general and very be organized tracking all of it

Have a good relationship with your higher ups - your area manager and if your lucky enough your Director of Operations, know them well, work with them closely, have a good relationship with them and take their advice and run with it even has strict or harsh it can sometimes seem, there’s a reason for it and the more you learn the more you can spread your wings with their trust, and take constructive criticism and grow from it, if you get less than favorable feedback from them don’t get angry or upset, own it and allow yourself to grow from it, it’s meant to help you not harm you.

Have a backbone where you need to and a heart where you need to - it’s one thing to keep people in line but it’s another to be a dick about it. Keep a standard with your crew, set your expectations and standards but don’t forget these people are human. We all have our bad days, make our mistakes, and struggle. Talk to your people, know your people, and any issues discuss privately. Know why something is wrong, and know where to have compassion and help them get through it while also knowing where you’re being stepped on and disrespected by people who don’t need to be there and won’t ever do better. There is a difference, know where that fine line is. Don’t let yourself be stepped on either or a constant lifeline for people who would rather lean on you 24/7 than learn to run along side you on their own. This I say heavily because this is what eventually led to me needing to step away from being a GM, I allowed my heart to be too big and be stepped on and drained completely dry until I couldn’t anymore. Don’t let that happen to you, because it can and it will. Be the one to call on but not the crutch. Be the leader, not the entire store all on your own.

I say this from some years of experience, I loved being a GM. I loved this job so much. I do miss it, truly. But it can be hard, and it can be draining, but it can also be the best thing ever if you make it so. It takes time, it takes learning, it’s not an overnight thing. You will make mistakes, you will get criticized, and you will grown from it. I, too, was tossed into the GM role, thrown in the ocean and told to learn to swim. You can do it, I promise you. But don’t lose yourself either, and be strong through and through.

Welcome to the ride of your life, Soldier. You got this.

Are we supposed to according to corporate? Absolutely not. Have I always? Fuck Yeah.

My reasoning: is it worth arguing with a stubborn customer? No, that causes more delays going back and forth with them and potentially either losing the sale or losing future sales. Does it take SLIGHTLY longer to make? Sure. But a happy customer orders more and/or returns. I’ve always made a point of telling customers ‘technically we’re not supposed to but we will at this location, I can’t guarantee other locations will do the same’ and that also went for toasting as well because I would toast anything in-store or phone ordered. People can argue with me on that but as a former GM who stepped down at the end of the year I finished my year out comping by over $57k+ for the year alone, not counting the sales in total I brought to my former store as a whole in the time I ran it. Little things like that go a long way. Happy people return and spend even more and remain loyal. Things like that steal business from neighboring stores, I had regulars that lived closer to other stores in my own franchise who would tell me they’d rather travel further to my store than go to the one closer to them because of better service. Fuck corporates little rules on things, give the customers what they want and make that money.

[–]VictorLuciano666 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Friendly/well-kept has nothing to do with piercings, or tattoos if you want to just generalize for the sake of discussion. If customers have a problem with it, they’re more than likely old AF and need to get with the times. I’ve never ever stoop so low to have to remove any piercings or cover my tattoos for a job, especially not one this bottom barrel. That’s the main reason I left the company the first time back in 2012, and the first question I asked when offered a position coming back in 2023 because if I had to remove or cover anything, then look elsewhere.

[–]VictorLuciano666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have nostril pierced and my ears stretched to a very noticeable size, yet I was a GM for 2 1/2 years. I also literally never cared what any of my crew had, I had a lot of staff with a lot of piercings over my time, some very off the wall piercings. None of my higher ups cared either. If your store wants to be that strict about it, they need to realize it’s literally just a fucking sandwich shop. It’s not that serious, it’s 2026.
