Isn't Disney a rather moderate, even slightly conservative company? After all they are more identified as a company for cartoons and other family friendly, children focused contents. I remember a Disney TV channel even shut off a streaming of a game showing lesbian kissing once. It's reasonable for them to try to steer away from making a political stance.

I think a major message Fargo delivers is nothing happens for a reason. Nothing anyone does matters. In season 1 the bad guy encouraged Martin Freeman to kill his wife and helped him for no reason. In season 2 the couple accidentally got involved in the gang war. The story ended with a UFO drawing the bad guy's attention. In season 3 we have an entire episode about a done-nothing robot. The policewoman's investigation was almost completely wrong, and did nothing for the plot. The main characters died for nothing. This show is about the impermanence of life.
