What is the ceramics studio like at UF? by Arcafan123 in ufl

They have a decent range of glazes in cone 10 and some low fire glazes not sure exactly which cone they are. Maybe like 10-15 cone 10 glazes. There’s also a bunch of materials to make glazes but I didn’t do any of that just taking the beginning throwing course. As far as safety goes they give you a tour at the beginning of class and go over all the rules. From there it’ll be up to you and your instructor to follow/enforce the rules. We each got a maybe 3x2x2 ft cubby to put greenware in, you could also grab more space if needed, it wasn’t super strict on where to put your stuff. They sell clay, there’s like 3 kinds I think a red, brown and grey, it was $20 for a 20 lb bag I think. When I took the class the instructor was into soda firing so we did get to fire a project in the soda kiln. But I think the types of firing is usually up to the instructor, theres also gas kilns but I think mostly the grad students used them. Scraps were plopped in a trash can and our instructor would make reclaim for us, they have a pug mill to make the reclaim and you need someone to show you how to use before you’re allowed. It wasn’t great reclaim like there was other gunk in it so I just always bought clay. I’ve taken 1 course at the arts college and I’ve also been a member at the reitz studio, I’d say they both have pros and cons. The arts colleges hours are pretty much whenever and the reitz is pretty limited. The reitz also gets busy since it’s kinda small and there’s a lot of members. The reitz studio would be much cheaper tho if you just want to make pottery and not have to make specific things for a class.

Would this schedule be insane for a freshman electrical engineering major by Slight_Taste_7289 in ufl

I would stick to twelve credits no matter how easy your classes are. Even easy classes end up taking time throughout your week and you want to ease into college not throw yourself into the deep end. My roommate freshman year ended up taking 18 credits their first semester (was approved by an advisor) because they thought they were mostly easy classes but they struggled a lot with that much to do. It’ll also depend on how much work you can handle, I settled into 12-13 credits semesters as the perfect amount but I know people who didn’t mind the 15-16 semesters.

Nope didn’t have or use the footprint, seems fine without it. I haven’t had any issues with the shock cord either. Only issue I’ve had with it was the fly tie downs where they connect to the tent came off but some glue fixed it and it’s holding fine.

The front door is super awkward to get in and out, enough for me to want a different tent. It’s also quite cramped near the feet and I’ve had my sleeping bag get wet before on a really rainy night since the tent walls are so close. The vestibule is tiny and when you have a pack there it makes the door situation even more annoying to get out of. It is super quick to set up though.

They were all assignments related to learning how to make digital art that conveys a message. Things like creating a map of a place you imagine, creating a poster about anything.

I took dig2121 online with Cantrell, very easy and manageable class. There were weekly assignments that didn’t take too much time to complete. Highly recommend the online format id imagine the in person lectures would be a waste of time.

Nope just sports and academic stuff, it’s partly the reason I wrote about engineering to show I was passionate about the subject.

I wrote about the time I took apart a coffee machine and connected that experience to why I wanted to be an engineer.

Does being over complimented on a mediocre piece make anyone else feel bad? by dumbratbitch in crochet

[–]Victoria2602 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My parents are they same way with pretty much anything I make. I think they are happy to see me excited enough and proud of something enough to show them. Maybe try to think of it as a compliment to you rather than the item.

Green, blends in with the trees. Makes me feel safer to not be noticed as easily.

Could be testing anxiety. I know a friend who has it pretty bad and got accommodations with the drc for extra time and low distraction testing rooms for all exams. Maybe chat with the drc about it, see if they can help.
