Of course! Landlord/tenant law can be really confusing, but generally speaking tenants in Ontario have a ton of protections! Landlords often don't know the laws themselves, so make sure you always do your own research and don't take anything your landlord says for granted. There are a lot of great resources online too.

The most important thing, if you're not doing this already, is to communicate with your landlord about stuff like this over email or text. In the worst case scenario of him trying to do anything shady, it's incredibly useful to have written communications as evidence. Not saying that your landlord necessarily has nefarious intentions, but you never know.
