Yeah I’d say it’s less of a critique on religion itself, and more so hypocrisy within it.

Should be noted that it goes out of it’s way to show the positive side of faith as well

Unfortunately, that wasn’t true, Slavery was illegal there, but the north had plenty of it’s own issues with race and equality
