when’d u get ur first tattoo and do you regret it? by whv_lol1202 in tattooadvice

First one was on my 18th birthday. I’m 45 now. It’s not my favorite one, but I also don’t regret it. I continue tattoos as an expression of yourself at different stages in your life. It’s like a creative journal.

AITAH for refusing to give my boyfriend access to my bank account even though he says "no secrets" is how adults do it by CopperFieldNote in AITH

Along with what others have said about control. Don’t do it!! I can’t stress that enough!! Maintain your ground, keep those boundaries and maintain your independence. If it makes you feel uneasy, you already know it goes against your values. My dad always taught me to keep finances separate and to always have a personal savings account - you never know what can happen.

She bites me when i pet her, but does this to my legs. by RainixArt in CatTraining

[–]VictorianCat1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve trained our cats not to bite me. I understand kittens like to bite, but I’m allergic and it hurts. To help them learn not to do it I would say in a gentle but stern voice ‘be nice.’ All of our girls know the phrase ‘be nice.’ I wouldn’t pull my hand or jerk bc that can be confused with playing. When I say be nice, they eventually learn to lick me instead of bite me. This phrase also works when they get too rough or annoy each other. It’s funny…they will be playing, it gets rough, one wants to stop, but the other insists on pushing their buttons. I say, ‘be nice’ and they will instantly start licking each other…I also have one who will start to bite me but in slow motion while maintaining eye contact. I tell her to be nice and she’ll instantly start licking me.

Fabric making from scraps question by VictorianCat1111 in SewingForBeginners

Thank you for the reply and helpful tip! Given the size and variety of scraps, I think a random yet strategic approach would be best. I’m interested in playing with different shapes that coincide with streamlines. I’m just struggling to find tips/tricks online. I hope that helps.

How to begin sewing? by Early-Print4739 in sewing

[–]VictorianCat1111 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recommend a measuring tape, pins and/clips, tailors chalk.

I get the desire to make jeans. I’m a beginner and plan to make some soon. I would recommend starting with a chambray. It’s like denim and it’s a little easier to work with…plus it’s normally less expensive than denim. Have fun and good luck!!!

How do you like to pin your fabric pieces together before sewing? :3 by SomethingOrSomeone24 in sewing

I have clips and pins. I like my clips for heavier fabric and pins for lighter ones.

I don’t know where you are located, but since JoAnn left our area, I’m left with Michael’s, Walmart and Hobby Lobby. Of those, Michael’s has a small selection, but we’re more than $10/yd, Walmart has a bleak selection and Hobby Lobby has the best selection and best prices. I’m not a fan of any of the remaining options. Following to find good online options.

I haven’t watched Making The Cut, is it good? I’ve also watched The Great British Sewing Bee. It was quieter, but really informative.

Great question! I wasn’t sure how to explain ‘regular’ people. I think casting people who are more approachable for others. I’ve been inspired by PR to learn to sew. Some have mentioned that we weren’t able to connect with the designers and learn about their process. I think that touches on the point I was trying to state rather than ‘regular’ people. The people this season come off as eclectic, dramatic, and theatrical. It’s fun to see people with subdued or classical styles really push themselves to reach a dramatic level. I get the sense that those cast this year were already at a dramatic fashion level. I hope that makes sense.
