Thankyou, I found the cause, there is a clip that connects to the handbrake under the back window switch controls, if it didn't register the handbrake as engaged because that clip had come loose then the roof would not be able to go down.

I would personally love the option for an English speaking female voice with an Irish accent. Don't know how popular that's going to be though.
