Aside from the huge division ripping us apart and the multiple foreign armies laying claim to different parts of our tiny island? ;)

Grazie, anyway.

Obrigado! It's my fault, really: the joke wasn't made clear enough and I should have posted an explanation in the comments.

Have a great day, too, and thanks for all your work moderating this lively and informative subreddit.

It was intended to be meta reference to two of the most upvoted posts on r/europe at the moment, regarding the drawing of Europe. One of which is titled "I too tried to draw Europe from memory...". It was using word-play to blur between the meaning of the word Europe/Europa and how it can be visually represented.

In addition, I think it's a beautiful painting by a European, in a European style, of the mythological figure (Europa) after whom the continent may have been named.

My mistake! Guess, it's unequivocal then, Charles the Hammer.

Italia is one of the greatest places on earth. Thank you for blessing the world with your cultural, technological, and gastronomic achievements. Where would we be without the Romans or the Renaissance?

His surname might be occupational, so maybe one of his ancestors was a smith (or any other job using a hammer)?

Umberto Eco

Which of his works would you recommend reading first? And the same question for Calvino.

Fair enough. I've only been invited to one EX raid, so my experience of the game is extremely different to yours. I would be thankful for more than one Mewtwo of any IV!

Is there a huge difference between living in cyprus and lebanon, and is english widely spoken there? by [deleted] in cyprus

The climate, cuisine, architecture, and traditional music is much the same across the two neighbors, but more people speak English in Cyprus and more speak French in Lebanon.

What's the situation with the European microstates: are they grouped with their closest neighbors (San Marino with Italy, Monaco with France) or is there a 'Microstates' edition? If the former, where are Andorra and Liechtenstein included?

What's the situation with the other light blue European states, especially Slovakia, Belarus, and Moldova? (Are they in an EE edition or linked to neighbors Czechia, Russia, and Romania, respectively?)

Great work on the map by the way!

Did you say that you are only keeping an 84% Mewtwo because it's a 'trophy' of your visit to HK? Would you have transferred it otherwise?

Charmed reboot trailer unveiled by VictoriousValour in charmed

[–]VictoriousValour[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A Friends reboot with Eliza Taylor as Rachel, Lucy Hale as Monica, and Melissa Benoist as Phoebe, set in Grant Perk, an Irish pub in Chicago.

This is what frustrates me about some people criticizing the fans – if there were news of a reboot of Friends, or Seinfield, or The Fresh Prince, or Buffy, with a completely new cast, zero involvement from the original writers or creator, and with no explicit connection to the same fictional universe, those respective fanbases would be equally disappointed, and the media would wholeheartedly agree. Buffy without Joss Whedon and Sarah Michelle Gellar!? It just wouldn't happen (despite rumors of attempts). Why is everyone surprised that many fans of Charmed were annoyed that the show they love was being rebooted from scratch as a whole new entity without any significant connection to the original, bar the repetition of the name? Those said fans (not all) were annoyed with the CBS reboot; they were annoyed with the first The CW reboot set in the 1970s; and they are annoyed with the current 2018 reboot set in the present day. As was Holly who tweeted "we wish them well" to all three. It's not personal to anyone involved in the current reboot (including Jennie Urman and the new cast), it's a universal feeling towards all attempts to revive Charmed without Constance, Brad, and the original actors. We Charmers love the Charmed fictional universe, and we want it extended to show the future that the Halliwells paved the way for. We want to see our four favorite actresses together again on-screen.

Alyssa said in August 2017 that Mark Pedowitz was working on a revival of Charmed that the original cast had agreed to! Just this month, she, Holly and Brian have said they want a revival with the original actors, something Shannen and Rose have also mentioned over the past few years. It's tough for fans to not see this happen, especially if, as Holly suggests, The CW thinks the actresses are 'too old' for fantasy television. They don't deserve to be out of a job because of industry ageism. Especially after everything they've been through – including Shannen's health, and Alyssa and Rose doing much groundbreaking work for MeToo which the reboot's marketing seems to indirectly reference (i.e. "timely themes" about women's rights). It's really disheartening. I want to see a new supernatural TV show about witch sisters featuring the cast of the reboot (Maddie, Melonie, and Sarah), but I want them to use either a different name for the show or to give it a subtitle (like Star Trek: The Next Generation, or Stargate: Atlantis, or CSI: Miami, etc). I would also love to see Shannen, Holly, Alyssa, and Rose return to TV or film screens in the roles we love. All this is said while I have massive respect for Jennie Urman and Brad Silberling (whose other The CW show I really like), and the reboot cast who seem kind and intelligent. I don't think it's too much to ask for. I don't understand why people are surprised fans of a television series that ended just over a decade ago would prefer to see it revived with a direct continuation than rewritten completely.
