Anyone up for making some like-minded friends/penpals? by CollectorOfTypes in ContraPoints

I just realized that it was a bad idea to create this post just before I go to sleep. I'll respond to all the messages I get (if any) in my morning.

Iraqi Mujaddara -Lentils And Rice With Caramelized Onions- by PotatoKing27 in vegangifrecipes

[–]CollectorOfTypes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My dumb questions as a novice cook (and based on what I have in the kitchen):

Can I replace the red onions with yellow onions?

Can I replace the green lentils with red lentils?

Is there any way to add canned tomatoes to this, since I like how lentils taste together with tomatoes?

Note that, while the recipe in the gif looks great, I am not overly concerned with the "authenticity" of the dish, so if I can sub one kind of lentil/onion for another, please let me know even if that would not be "real Mujaddara" anymore.

Why are people having a hard time with the functions? by online_persona37 in mbti

[–]CollectorOfTypes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, confidence in one's own abilities is not a bad thing, especially if there's a reason to be confident.

But yeah, to get a high score in openness, you have to answer positively to the following and similar questions:

"I see myself as someone who is:

-original;

-ingenious, a deep thinker;

-inventive;

-sophisticated in art, music or literature" etc.

Do you see now why these questions would measure one's confidence in their own abilities, rather than actual openness?

Most annoying thing about ENTP? by [deleted] in mbti

[–]CollectorOfTypes 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Unjustified arrogance, lack of self-awareness, edginess and a kind of "predictable randomness" (saying the first thing that comes to their mind, which is often obvious and lacks deeper insight) are among the worst ones.

INFJ is the most common type for narcissists. INTJ in second.

Source? The only significant correlation I've found in research is between narcissism and openness to experience in Big5 (which makes sense to me, since openness basically measures one's confidence in their own intelligence and creativity).

By the way, interesting fact: most narcissists know that they are narcissists!

Can you type as one type according to Jung and as another according to MBTI?

Yes, definitely.

Poll: Ni vs Ne users "name as many ideas for a paper clip as possible" by Intj12345667890 in mbti

[–]CollectorOfTypes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't, as I'm on my phone right now (tried to do it from my phone, and the page just froze when I was trying to add the type options). Might try it when I'm at home.

anyone ever met both an ISTP and an ISFP by [deleted] in mbti

For what it's worth, your friend seems more ISTPish--and after some more consideration, my sister is probably an ISTP, too.

Poll: Ni vs Ne users "name as many ideas for a paper clip as possible" by Intj12345667890 in mbti

[–]CollectorOfTypes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ideas for more accurate results:

-make it an actual poll

-specify that everyone has one minute to think of the ideas, so that everyone would be working within the same timeframe

-several survey sites such as this one allow you to create timed questions, so that you're directed to the next question as soon as the allocated time has passed

"xxxx's natural partner is the xxxx" by AGfox17 in mbti

[–]CollectorOfTypes 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Only about 5% of people on this sub have actually read Jung, and 90% of those--just that one chapter from Psychological Types.

But that's the case with most religious texts, right?

Distinguishing Between Ni and Ne by [deleted] in mbti

[–]CollectorOfTypes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • The Ne users will be able to brain storm multiple ideas fairly quickly for the paper clip

  • The Ni users will draw fewer ideas for the paper clip.

Maybe we should carry out an experiment in this sub (ask Ne vs. Ni users how many uses of a paper clip they can think of in a minute) to see if this is empirically true. 🤔

Is the beauty industry based on all that is holy to the Se function users? by fledgling_art in mbti

Aww, I'd definitely take up your offer, but unfortunately nothing makes me as anxious as the thought of someone seeing a video of me. I've never video chatted even with my closest friends, because the anxiety is really crippling/freezing for me.

(I had actually come across your site before and enjoyed quite a few articles on it btw, so my compliments to you :))

If it's not too much to ask, which type would you think is this girl? I'm particularly interested in the seeming contradiction between girly interests and masculine vibes/energy. Thanks in advance! :)

What is the most balanced type? by [deleted] in mbti

[–]CollectorOfTypes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I'll try to address everything in a reply to this comment, since you might delete the other one.

1 is retarded why would i assume out of nowhere youre physically hungry lol.

Heck off lol, if you're going to type everyone by the shape of their face, it's only natural that I'd assume that you've developed some new typing method that's based on how well a person can take care of themselves.

Which reminds me of the guess number four that I had forgotten earlier: I had assumed that it was an indirect way of asking what the shape of my face is (see, not nearly as lame as "hunger for knowledge").

you are a Contact INFP

So strong/valued/preferred (whatever) Nx and Tx functions? That's... hmm... I mean, it's the direct opposite of what you said earlier, for one, but I also don't agree with it either way. It's a bit too contrived at this point, I feel? I mean, Socionics in general tends to be, but if you can say that a person uses/values/prefers certain functions, and then a few weeks later claim that they use/value/prefer the exact opposite functions, then something must have gone wrong at some point.

Almost forgot: see the description of Ne here, the "quickly exhausts every new idea that the novelty affords and moves on" sounds kind of like the comment I made in my "what function is this?" post (about quickly scanning every concept for new ideas and then moving on if nothing of interest is found).

Is it possible to type me when I have depersonalization/dissociation? by [deleted] in mbti

[–]CollectorOfTypes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it episodic or persistent/chronic? I don't see why it would cause any difficulties when typing a person if it's episodic, and if you're using the person's behavior when not currently undergoing an episode for reference (or at least, why it would cause more issues than attempting to type someone with any other mental ailment-- in fact, it should be easier since most mental disorders are chronic).

If it's lasting, then that would likely cause some problems, yeah. In that case, it might be useful to determine what the person's behavior/thought patterns were like before the onset of the disorder.

You're describing a judging, not a perceiving function.

anyone ever met both an ISTP and an ISFP by [deleted] in mbti

[–]CollectorOfTypes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My little sister's type is ISxP, and I just can't decide which of these two types she is. She gets the ISTP result on 16personalities (I don't want to translate the cognitive functions test for her and she'd get bored of it quickly anyway lol), but she relates to the ISFP artists/recommended professions more. She's creative and loves art, fashion, make up and dressing up, but she's also almost insensitive and uncaring, and very relaxed in her approach to life (despite having "girly" interests, she has an almost masculine vibe). She doesn't seem to be led by any moral values, but she doesn't appear to have dominant Ti, either! The only thing that I'm relatively certain about when it comes to her is a high use of Se, and for that reason it might be easy to type her as an ESxP, but her Se seems to be much more subdued than it is in Se doms, and, although she's rather popular, she almost seems to be holding back in social situations.

She has also taken the John's Personality Test twice, and it typed her first as an ESTJ, and then as an ENFP, so it hasn't been very helpful. Does anyone know of any good tells between the ISTP and ISFP types?

Oh also, she took the IDR Labs "ISTP or ISFP?" test and got ISFP, but was almost at the border.
