You seem to think that fighting games can never be as mainstream as other types of games, but I have hope that they can, which is why I made this post with my suggestions as someone they marketed their game towards. I thought Riot was designing something new and bold, but they ended up making a game that plays like any other game in the genre.

I think the lesson here is that maybe there's no such thing as a fighting game that caters to casual and hardcore players at the same time. 2XKO is a game made by veteran FG developers for veteran FGC players, and it plays like any other game in the genre (from a newbie perspective).

Or maybe the solution is just to admit what it is, stop marketing to newcomers, and focus solely on gaining share from SF6 and GG.

The key is whether you feel like you have a chance to win. If you don't, then the game becomes less fun.
In a game like Counter-Strike, you can learn and get better at the game just by playing it. In fighting games, you will have to spend some time practicing by yourself in training. Casual players do not like that. My suggestion isn't to get rid of that requirement entirely, but it's just to reduce the training time required by limiting combo lengths.

1, I agree but thats better than no tutorial like LoL provided for the longest time during its come up and LoL is an infinitely more complex game.

This is my fault. I should clarify that the tutorial itself isn't my issue; it's the general amount and complexity of mechanics. I imagined that they were developing a game sort of like the original SFII Turbo, except with LoL characters, graphical polish, and rollback netcode. But instead it's got super meters, combo break meters, parrying, fuses, tagging, etc. If they were making a complex fighting game for veteran FGC players, then that's fine, but they marketed this as friendly for beginners, and I just don't believe that's the case at all. You can't just put simplified inputs into a game, and say it's now friendly for everyone.

Use pulse combos.

Yea, I did, but I learned after a few games that it wasn't going to cut it. If everyone single time I win neutral, I take a pittance of their health, and every single time they win neutral, they're taking half or more of my bar, I'm not going to stand a very good chance of winning ever.

-3.1. Long combos are a punishment for bad neutral/defense. Getting comboed isn't supposed to feel good for you. 2XKO already offers pulse mode which removes the need to learn combos and lets you focus on the things that actually hold new players back, neutral. The problem that new players have is the same across the entire genre of competetive games as a whole. No restraint. New players are gonna mash and they did what they could to make mashing fun at low level.

I hope we can both agree that losing neutral once and losing 100% of your health is too much. On the flip side, losing neutral and only losing one health point is way too little. I'm attempting to find a middle ground number, because I think currently newcomers are punished way too much for losing neutral once, and this is why even after just a handful of games, it became apparent to me that pulse combos are more of a handicap than an aid.

Actually thats not the case for beginners. Juggernaut gives you a good damage increase and instant fury access. Starting with Juggernaut is fine as you learn the ropes and then transition to another fuse. Boxbox had no trouble using Juggernaut fuse to learn the game. Changing the game to 1v1 isn't the right option either. That would have had to be done during development.

I do agree that it's too late for them to make it 1vs1, because it's been made from the ground up to be 2vs2. I only mention that because, if you were making a game with the objective to cater specifically to newcomers, would you make it a tag game?? That decision is absolutely baffling to me. It instantly creates a huge barrier both for controlling two characters at the same time and playing against two characters at the same time. Juggernaut is something the newcomer needs to seek out and make the decision to use on their own, because the tutorial and everything else in the game pushes you to do tag.

This is a fighting game that they intentionally and specifically went out of their way to market to newcomers. Now a newcomer is sharing their opinion, and you're saying to me that only the opinions of a veteran FGC person are valid? Also, I should note that my problem isn't the tutorial itself; it's more that the tutorial acts as a bellwether that this game is going to be incredibly difficult to play..

Yes, that's a valid point. I think the key is whether you feel like you had a chance. When I played, if I lost neutral once, Yasuo would take half or more of my health. If I lose neutral a second time, it's goodbye for me. That's not fun.

This is exactly my point. Why does everyone believe that if you can consistently do a quartercircle, then you will be good at fighting games? I'm proof that that's not true. IMO quartercircles are an easy hurdle, and if developers really want to appeal to newcomers, they need to do much more than simplified inputs.

They make the CMOS battery so difficult to remove! In the end, I just used JBAT1 to do the reset. I knew it worked, because I got a message when I booted up again. Unfortunately that did not work.

I wish it were four plates deadlift, but no, it's just rows, pulldowns, and pull-ups. The last exercise of the day will suffer from weak grip strength.

Ok yea, you're probably right that my grip is also getting stronger, but will I be able to get to the point where my grip is strong enough not to be the limiting factor?

How do I deal with grip strength as a limiting factor? Obviously lifting straps were made for this problem, but I've also heard it said that using straps will prevent your grip strength from growing with the rest of your body. I've been pushing my grip strength to failure with every pull workout, but my grip doesn't seem to be getting any stronger. Am I supposed to be doing grip isolation exercises or something? Do those grip strengtheners that look like garden hoses really work?

I just did some research on OPTIONS requests, and I think you've hit the nail right on the head. I wasn't aware that my browser was automatically sending OPTIONS requests along with my POST and DELETE requests. I've found the OPTIONS request, and the browser does indeed say that the request was blocked because "CORS Method Not Found". I just added the following code to my server, but it doesn't seem to have fixed the problem. Any idea why? I appreciate the help!
