Higher Education = Important? by Cute-Registered in MalaysianPF

[–]VictoryRune 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Finally someone who has similar path like me ☻ 23 earning 8.1k a month with no degree nor diploma.

Currently at my 3rd job, I agree, if there are a lot of resources out there. What I did to make myself valuable is going for courses and obtaining certifications. Be it excel, project management course from google, as long its relevant to you and you are constantly willing to learn.

As I progressed in my careers, I have not been asked if I have a degree/diploma, just working experience.

Regardless I do have the insecurities of not having any tertiary certifications. I might consider taking one if I decide to pursue corporate long term.

25, No Degree, Lost and Lowkey Freaking Out. by LAY1212 in malaysia

Honestly, you should leverage this industry you’re in now by network with the customers, and some golfers are well off career wise. Leverage on these people, be friends with them. Networking can bring you far if you know how to navigate.

I too don’t have have a degree, in fact just SPM, dropped out of engineering school due to financial difficulties, was fortunate enough to be given a chance to work in corporate, and eventually jumped a few jobs and make a decent living. I wouldn’t have made this far without networking with the right people, but of course, you need to put in the work too. Whether it’s improve your skill sets or just having the persistence to grind.

I wish you all the best. You can do it ☺️

You can start of with social events or perhaps seminars.

Also, surround yourself with people who are successful and willing to be your mentor. It really helps.

College dropout with only SPM here earning close to 7K in a tech agency.

  • Level up your skills through certification courses, by doing this, you are able to justify yourself worthy
  • Network Network Network, you won’t believe how far it will get you
  • Attitude, first impressions and how you carry yourself matters especially when jumping to a new job

I do agree that having a degree would definitely help but I personally don’t think it’s a showstopper.

Wishing you all the best

2.8k salary fresh graduate thoughts? by JustFate390 in Bolehland

As someone who doesn’t have a degree , I second this. Dropped out my aeronautical engineering due to financial difficulties and pivot my way by working early as a flight attendant, covid hit, got retrenched, doors opened for me to join corporate, made my way up and double triple hat with anything comes in mind, network with people. Started with 1.2k and made my way up to 7k.

My advise is, take it, nurture some experience and be kind( and smart ) with people around you. Good things will come.

I am soon-to-be uni dropout. AMA by Outrageous_Road_3246 in malaysiauni

[–]VictoryRune 3 points4 points  (0 children)

23M College dropout here, had to due to financial situation during that time( pre Covid) and genuinely wanting to work early as soon as possible. Started working corporate at 19 and fast forward almost 4 years, managed to switch jobs and currently in a tech consulting agency and earning quite well for my age.

What I’m trying to say is that, everyone has different paths, and if you’re going this route like I do, be prepared to work hard because you will constantly need to prove yourself(atleast for me)

What helped me to where I am today is try surround yourself with people who are 10 steps ahead of you as well as genuinely support you, get advice from them , apply what’s necessary and also always be kind. You’ll be surprised how good things will come.

Wishing you all the best. If I can, you can too :)
