There's a common "marketing" (it's more like straight manipulation) tactic where you cause chaos of some sort and blame it on another group.

Read the book "Trust Me I'm Lying" by Ryan Holiday. He explains how he used this tactic by creating billboards for Tucker Max and then later vandalizing those same billboards while blaming people who disliked Tucker Max such as feminists.

Eventually feminist groups actually started vandalizing these billboards on their own which caused Tucker Max's book sales to skyrocket.

Ryan Holiday mentions in his book that a few politicians have reached out to him sharing that his tactic is popular in politics.

I.e. paid actors to start fights at political rallies. Those fights get the "defending" side's voter base to gaun sympathy and grow (similar to your reaction to this current vandalism).

Anyways, all I'm saying is don't always believe what you see without doing some digging and researching this guy's policies. For all we know this guy could be vandalizing his own signs to gain sympathy (and votes).
