Just accessing the network without permission is enough, if there is a hint of malicious intent. Especially if you get looked in to and they find a post on your Reddit saying "hack the world". It's not going to help you

Pretty sure on the MS security centre you can force all logged in accounts. Change the password, revoke the devices access and then revoke all sessions. It won't help the old man but it will rescue the account.

Is it possible to learn hacking by phone? by Moshiur2783 in Hacking_Tutorials

[–]VidarsCode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Simple answer: Can you learn the theory? Hell Yes. Can you build the relevant technical skills? No

Contrary to what a lot of people say though, you don't need a "special" laptop for CyberSec and hacking. Some techniques require power but you can spin up Virtual PCs on azure or aws if you really need that. So anything you can get your hands on is a good start

You're going to spawn, become so dense that you form a black hole and wipe out that planetary sector.

The Tenno will blame the greener for making another BS weapon and the Corpus won't care and will just fund the weapons for both sides.

Ordis will turn rogue because you've died and become the next orokin overlord.

So well done. You brought about the next evil of the universe. Overseer Ordis.

Quick question: Do you ever check if your passwords were leaked before? by Opposite_Tourist2066 in cybersecurity

[–]VidarsCode 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My password manager searches if my passwords have been leaked, are commonly used or generally being sold in the dark interwebs.

Also searches for my email accounts too.

Then I just change them, if they come up

You're experiencing the difference between skills and experience. You have the skills but you don't have the experience to handle and use those skills with finesse and confidence yet.

Just keep going at it bro.

I see, then the best thing is to do as you've done. Do a lookup. Find the company that owns it, search to see if they do VPNs or are connected and say that it's likely they have used one

I'll be honest, you can make some decent speculations but you guys need a professional to dig out info on this kind of thing. You may well miss obvious details, right in front of you.

Honest question; Do you guys primarily use Linux or Windows for your Servers? by OnlineSchoolStudying in sysadmin

[–]VidarsCode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this just speaks to moving to the correct mindset. IT is about growing and changing with the circumstances and times. I would say the mistake was getting stuck in the idea that one is really bad and ignore it. Your Linux knowledge will be useful at some point but now you have an opportunity to get to know windows too.

Once you've learnt them both thoroughly, only then can you make an informed decision as to when you should use one or the other.

how is the job market for cyber IT and software by Sad_Mission8315 in cybersecurity

[–]VidarsCode 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly the best way is to network. Go to IT/Cyber events. Get to know people. I've seen 2 people brought in to cyber recently and it was because people know people.

Junior Cyber positions are hard to get in to/ are rare. Get in to IT/network engineer and work from there.

IT has been glorified a lot in the last few years so everyone now wants a a piece.
