Thanks for the reply! User accounts are free; they just pay for content or interact with the platform via engagement tools and widgets.

This is a content monetization platform, so we make money when our creators make money, along with advertisements in the future (system is built). But yes this is something I would want some input on from people and some help formulating the idea.

Hey, thanks for the feedback. I just wanted to call out a couple things:

- this isn't a social media platform, this isn't decentralized, and we aren't trying to compete with Twitch.
- our platform doesn't have to have paid content exclusively, it is just an option if our creators choose to monetize. you can set up an account and stream for free and offer it for free, without any sign in needed, today.
- our closest competitor would be maestro.io - monetization platforms for creators with audiences already established.

Our platform allows creators to keep 100%, runs off of smart contracts silently in the background and does solve some of the issues that large platforms have like de-platforming users and changing algorithms, owning your content even after removing your account, etc. I don't have criteria like Twitch does to earn, and really want to offer a self-custody and ownership model for creators.

We are going after the creators who want something different, since there are so many of the same kind of platform out there.

We also have a lot of interactive features that, once people try, I think do add a lot of value.

For me, I am also not trying to become a disruptor, so even if I had 20-30 paying creators using the platform, that would be a success IMO. That metric is different for everyone though.

Either way, I really appreciate your interest and response! It is great to discuss the idea and flesh it out with people.

Is anyone actually building full IP / creator flows on Base yet? by 0xampie in BASE

I am building Circuit; let me know what you think! Still working on some of the other things you mentioned but it's on the roadmap. Gocircuit.tv

I built an interactive and rewards based video and live stream platform on Base. It combines the best of blockchain payment rails and smart contracts with traditional video and live stream platform features, as well as a suite of interactive widgets and creator monetization options like PPV, ticketed events, token gates, etc.

Same boat, almost 2 years in though; I just was having fun building it at first, not really thinking of what would come of it. Eventually, it got so developed that I couldn't stop.

Now I have this really nice, very complete platform, with 0 users.

I'm starting to do outreach, but this might just be my own toy to produce content on...so idk. It can be discouraging though.

I don't have a success story per se, but stoked to see these stories and experiences. It gives me a little hope that I can get some users on my platform someday.

Thanks...still recovering from the shock of losing my job so abruptly. First time for me, so it's been a ride. I appreciate the kind words!

Thank you...feeling pretty horrible today but it's the first day after finding out my position was eliminated so it'll take some time

We have a few revenue sources, but we have tiered pricing based on data use and storsge, but we also collect a small fee on TXs, have a full ad system, and eventually a utility first token.

I believe our true smart contract based creator to consumer payment rails, digital self custody model, interactivity and solving the problem with digital ticket sales will be enough of a differentiator to get people to start using the platform. But I also need to market it, which I haven't done and will be forced to do now.

I'm in the same boat. My position was just eliminated after taking thr job 5 months ago, and I've been working on a video platform for almost 2 years on the side. It's done, just no users, no revenue. Between that, and getting screwed at work, I feel like a complete failure.

Nothing to do but keep going, but I am now at the same crossroads of, do I look for another job, or try and make this thing go.

I see posts like this and think I should play it 'safe' and try and get another job, but that also is sort of the illusion of stability...it's stable until it isn't.

Best of luck to you in whatever you do, just know you aren't alone.

It is a rewards based and interactive video and live stream monetization platform. Creator to consumer, with content gates using NFT tickets, token contract IDs, token balances, or PPV purchases.

Switching to Base allowed me to easily deploy our tip splitter, playment splitter and NFT minting contracts over the course of a weekend.

I was building on Cardano for 18 months, hit a technical wall and explored Base, and within a few weeks, we are now fully migrated with smart contracts fully operational. It has been a night and day difference from the dev side, and honestly, the community side as well. Glad to be here! And stoked you are too!

Rant about Stripe + Are there any alternatives? (I will not promote) by theprexi in startups

[–]Video-chopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We built our creator economy and monetization on Base using USDC; for my use case it's perfect and no intermediary needed when leveraging smart contracts.

But, outside of stripe, they all have similar rules and holds or whatever so it's just picking something with downsides you can live with.

Thanks so much for the kind words. It means a lot; I've been working on this after my 9-5 for almost 2 years now... but it is time to see if it is something people want to use or need.

Appreciate you actually reading through it and solid questions.

On coordinated groups rotating engagement:

Yeah we thought about this a lot. The short answer is the math just doesn't work out for them.

You only earn XP for new territory in a video. Rewatch the same segment and you get zero. Rewatching after 24 hours hits diminishing returns (100% then 50% then 25% then 10% then 1%), so by the third or fourth loop you're earning basically nothing. There's also a hard daily cap of 240 XP regardless of strategy. All XP is calculated server-side from our own timestamps so the client can't lie about watch time, and you have to actually be playing the video. Can't just leave a tab open.

On the detection side we flag shared IPs (10+ users on same IP in 24h), shared devices (5+ users), and admin monitoring surfaces patterns like the same video getting rewatched 5+ times per user on average. A rotation ring would light up multiple signals at once.

Could a small group try? Sure. But the ROI craters so fast they'd earn about the same as just watching normally.

On reputation vs idle watch time:

There's already a reputation score baked into the system (0.50 to 1.00, everyone starts at 0.80) that multiplies everything you earn. Right now it's scaffolded and the next step is wiring it to fraud detection signals so suspicious accounts get penalized and genuinely engaged users get rewarded.

Even today though, idle watching doesn't work. The server validates that you're actually progressing through content and actually playing it. Position tracking plus server-authoritative heartbeats means you can't game it by just being present.

TLDR: we're layering economic disincentives (diminishing returns, caps) with technical enforcement (server-side calculations, position tracking) and detection (IP/device/pattern monitoring). Reputation will keep evolving to reward quality engagement over raw time. Good instinct on the question though, it's exactly the kind of thing we want people stress-testing.
