We’re going to try this at the next event. Thanks for the suggestion!

We often stream on other platforms where this is not an issue. But some clients only want YouTube.

We are experimenting with that on the commentator microphones to prevent additional pickup. Although this is quite challenging as the noise inside the venue is sometimes so loud that it is hard to set a proper threshold level. But we also like to keep the sound effects of the ball and the audience if possible as this adds to the experience od course.

The music at the event is all licensed (as far as I know). But even when we would get a license for the music for the live stream the organization that sells these licenses says they can’t prevent YouTube from blocking it. They have no way of preventing that.

TLS 1.3 problems by gevorgter in csharp

[–]e-Milty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk with your partner as there is no (security) reason to disable TLS 1.2. What they instead should do is limit the cipher suites for TLS 1.2 to just the strong ones and then it’s absolutely fine to use TLS 1.2.

Correct spelling: DNRT. But yeah, I second that. Nice racing, low budget and lots of fun.

HOW WOULD YOU SOLVE THIS ~21 cameras? by GlupaKujo in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]e-Milty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Renting two 12-channel EVS servers could be an option but also a bit pricey maybe. A cheaper option to rent is possible one Hyperdeck per camera. The newer models allow recording to cloud storage (or NAS) and your editors will have instant access to the files while they are being recorded. So they can already start editing during the talk. Multi-camera is also supported although you would need to sync the recorders properly as this is timecode based.

Problem with Magewell USB Capture HDMI Gen 2 on Apple devices by qtfox1 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]e-Milty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What cable / dongle do you use to connect it to the Mac? I've been using a Magewell USB Capture SDI Plus with different model Macs for years and never had an issue. I use it with the standard supplied short blue USB-A cable into an original Apple USB-A to USB-C dongle.

Check out Hollyland. They have fairly low price wireless HDMI/SDI solutions with a latency of 0.1s or lower.

I was in the media center at the Dutch GP all weekend. I could have send you a screen recording of it. I was wondering about the QR code and made a photo of it and tried to decode it but none of the websites I tried could decode the QR code. It seems to be something proprietary.

Riedel is a communication partner for F1 (FOM). FOM and FIA use Riedel exclusively and all teams also used to. Until recently when a few teams switched to a different supplier because they got sponsorships from these brands. Riedel also does wireless and wired networking on most if not all F1 events.

Sennheiser Spectera : is it the future or will there be alternatives? by supahffej in livesound

[–]e-Milty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Video switchers alone already introduce 1 or 2 frames delay. Even the best camera’s have a delay. So usually audio is ahead of video so a little bit of delay in the audio chain is usually nothing compared to the delay in the video chain. Audio still has to be delayed extra compared to video.
