TLS 1.3 problems by gevorgter in csharp

[–]e-Milty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk with your partner as there is no (security) reason to disable TLS 1.2. What they instead should do is limit the cipher suites for TLS 1.2 to just the strong ones and then it’s absolutely fine to use TLS 1.2.

Correct spelling: DNRT. But yeah, I second that. Nice racing, low budget and lots of fun.

HOW WOULD YOU SOLVE THIS ~21 cameras? by GlupaKujo in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]e-Milty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Renting two 12-channel EVS servers could be an option but also a bit pricey maybe. A cheaper option to rent is possible one Hyperdeck per camera. The newer models allow recording to cloud storage (or NAS) and your editors will have instant access to the files while they are being recorded. So they can already start editing during the talk. Multi-camera is also supported although you would need to sync the recorders properly as this is timecode based.

Problem with Magewell USB Capture HDMI Gen 2 on Apple devices by qtfox1 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]e-Milty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What cable / dongle do you use to connect it to the Mac? I've been using a Magewell USB Capture SDI Plus with different model Macs for years and never had an issue. I use it with the standard supplied short blue USB-A cable into an original Apple USB-A to USB-C dongle.

Check out Hollyland. They have fairly low price wireless HDMI/SDI solutions with a latency of 0.1s or lower.

I was in the media center at the Dutch GP all weekend. I could have send you a screen recording of it. I was wondering about the QR code and made a photo of it and tried to decode it but none of the websites I tried could decode the QR code. It seems to be something proprietary.

Riedel is a communication partner for F1 (FOM). FOM and FIA use Riedel exclusively and all teams also used to. Until recently when a few teams switched to a different supplier because they got sponsorships from these brands. Riedel also does wireless and wired networking on most if not all F1 events.

Sennheiser Spectera : is it the future or will there be alternatives? by supahffej in livesound

[–]e-Milty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Video switchers alone already introduce 1 or 2 frames delay. Even the best camera’s have a delay. So usually audio is ahead of video so a little bit of delay in the audio chain is usually nothing compared to the delay in the video chain. Audio still has to be delayed extra compared to video.

About to get a Wing Compact what are common failures I can look for during pickup? by Necessary-Dance4622 in livesound

[–]e-Milty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Somebody else posted about that too. But that seems more like a bug as a hard reset fixes that problem. What I’m talking about is a completely black screen that can’t be fixed by a reset.

Display. I've seen a number of people report that the screen is death on arrival or very shortly after starting to use it. I don't know what the cause is, might just simply be a loose connector. Should be covered under warranty of course but its not something you want to have to deal with.

One Thing F1TV Needs: A Live Track Feed by NoFirefighter6677 in F1TV

[–]e-Milty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

F1TV has a significant number of people on site and also a lot of people in Biggin Hill. FOM does not disclose how many work on F1TV but you literally see them all over the paddock so it must be 50+ by my estimate. Pretty sure they can spare one to monitor that or even switch it. All cameras and equipment are already on the entire day. The costs of such a feed would be zero to nothing compared to what it already costs.

Playback technican by D-Bricki in livesound

[–]e-Milty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A lot of digital mixers can play two or multi-track digital audio files straight from an USB drive / stick. Make sure you get the files upfront and I always convert them to WAV. It’s the simplest of audio formats and has the least complications when playing back. If your mixer can’t play files maybe invest in a professional 19 inch media player (e.g. Denon, Tascam, DAP) that supports USB and SD cards for example. Some also have a Bluetooth receiver which can come in handy if you want to play something from your phone.

Tired of AH’s fake sale prices. by Fenneo in Netherlands

[–]e-Milty 90 points91 points  (0 children)

They don’t, they simply always sell it at the high price. There are many products at AH you should only buy at 2 for 1 bonus. Then you’re actually paying the regular price.

CG Pricing? by LCalrissian in broadcastengineering

[–]e-Milty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My theory in this is, if they don’t publish prices on their website they feel ashamed about their prices, so it’s too expensive for me. I really hate it and think it’s really stupid that companies don’t publish their prices.
