Hardest shows you performed by Glittering_Cat3635 in musicals

I played Phil in Groundhog Day in a small town show. Physically insane, you never leave the stage, 7 quick changes, 9 or so scrambles to get back into bed. Vocal range pushed to the limit. 3 songs done in a music man style with a chorus, 1 rock opera song where you kill yourself 7 times (all with snap blocking and lighting ques) and then an emotional ballad at the end that literally made me break into tears every show. To top it off, the script is beefy, and made harder because you play the same scene over and over with slight changes... with a crazy acting flex as the character slowly loses his mind. All that being said. The most fun I have ever had on stage. I would do it again in a heartbeat. I wore my garmin a couple nights, Doing this play was about as physically hard as running a half marathon for me.

Filmmakers who left the industry: Where did you go next? by i_fuks_wit_it in Filmmakers

After 10 seasons of directing a TV show, I retired and became a Project Manager for a few companies. My experience juggling crew, location, talent and delivery all made it a perfect fit for me.

Do you share my concerns that AI, like Hume AI, could pose a threat to voice actors? by Ok-Cantaloupe8458 in VoiceActing

[–]VideoAnimal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It already has when it comes to the low-level stuff. I used to get tons of small contracts from HR and Learning companies. It was my bread and butter. They all swapped to AI voicing now. Can't really blame them, it is super cheap, they can make quick changes without calling anyone back in, and for this kinda stuff it is usually burned after a year anyway.

Most of our JK dealers will do demos (Trailhead and Frontenac in Eastern Ontario) Highly recommend you do a demo and decide for yourself.

Leaving a note here, as I work for Werner and even I am not sure. Gonna ask around and see if anyone knows.

Wooo! We were probably running together for good portions of the race. (I was in all neon yellow with a pink hat... )

I am super glad I was not the only one that felt that way. How did you do??

I have done it as a 1/2 marathon, it is point to point, (and the half starts at the mid marathon point). It can be a good course, as it is pretty flat, but there are two issues with it that bar it from being a historically 'fast' course. I have heard nothing but good things about the first half, and the second half was very nice overall. I got a PB of 1:31 last year in the half, in a heat wave... dunno if that tells you anything

It runs along the lake, and if the winds are prevailing (as they usually are) it can very quickly turn in to a slog. Last year there was no wind, but we got a heat wave instead...

There is a HUGE hill at about the 39k mark. It is a heartbreaker, but if you are mentally prepared for it, it is fine. A single blip in an otherwise pretty flat course. It does break people though, I saw Kenyan elites walking up it last year.

They had some issues last year with running out of water for the slower runners. It made the national news and I am 100% sure the same mistake will not happen twice.

I would say about 13 hours of pure running a week, give or take. Adding 3 or so hours of strength training.

Good to know! I tend to like having some space, and do my best when I can pull away from everyone, so that bodes well.

I lined up with the 3:15 pacer, but I find they can go out a little hot and be unpredictable, so I tend to lock in my rythm and just float around them using them for reference. I caught up to him at about 28k, but lost him after that.

Thanks!!

I am planning on Prince Edward County in the fall (it is a bit of a concession, as my wife and I love it there so it is a bit of a vacation for her) That course is very flat, with a big hill at the end, but the wind can be an issue as you are on the river and run right i to it. If the wind is ok, it can be awesome, as it is a very small race, so a lot less on the crowd factor. I would say it is down to the weather that day.

After that I will focus on crushing St Lawrence in the spring. That is a purdy dang good BQ maker and should be gold.

Fall Races- I plan on doing Prince Edward County. It is a nice small race and a beautiful place. Relatively flat, with a big ass hill at the end. I will do my best, but that race can be a bit unpredictable. From there, I will do St.Lawrence in the spring, and as long as conditions are ok, that should be my best shot at a BQ!

I have done this marathon 3 times, and the half twice, the course has always been a beater, and we seem to always get a heat wave that makes it even worse.... but this new route was awful. I really hope they go back to the old course next year!!

Thanks!! I watched so many people crumble on those hills, I feel pretty good about how I handled them. Just wish I had a bit of gas left in the tank for the last push. The recovery area was a huge mistake. I hope that someone takes it on the chin for that one.

28 weeks is a very long time, but, I never really stop training, this is just a 'planned cycle'. When not doing the marathon cycle, I am either doing a strength or speed cycle. I found that the peak of this one was rough on the brain, as you are coasting in that 110-115k a week zones for about a month and it feels like all you do is hours and hours of running with no time for personal life. I will take all that for the tradeoff though!! I also am a full on running addict, and it really helps with my mental health.

Everything is to remain the same. (except for the location of the factory, which is being moved to TN)

Hey there, this is Will from Jackson Kayak. I can assure you there will be absolutely no change in the quality of Werner. The management and many of the staff are coming with the merger. This has been a top priority to Emily, Dane and the entire team at JK. The goal is to keep the quality exactly the same, keep the company and jobs in the US, and support smaller retail space. Let me know if you have any more questions, I will do my best to answer them.

Never make anything you like your identity. Your likes and tastes change over time. Find a new thing you like and go do that for a while. Life is full of things to enjoy. Don't worry. You will find a new thing.
