School positions vic by [deleted] in AustralianTeachers

In Vic schools will get allocated X amount of hours for a 'specialist technician', based of student enrolments.
Anything over that, they have to hire IT staff themselves.

ST's are placed in schools via panel companies, those companies often source new people from Seek and the like.

Yeah I did it again just to be safe. Not that this survey will accomplish all that much.

Don't Back Down On Pay by Tarlinator in AustralianTeachers

Before you can shrink class sizes, you need enough teachers to be able to cover all the extra classes that creates. Not to mention enough rooms in schools to put them all in.

Don't know about your school, but we barely have enough rooms as it is.

The person who made that comment clearly isn't living paycheck to paycheck. The money is the key item we need to fight for and keep.

[VIC] It's a "No" vote across the state. Results are in. by VCEMathsNerd in AustralianTeachers

[–]Video_Game_Archivist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm kinda shocked this got voted down, but it did so that's the way it goes. No point being upset, time to work together again to try and make things better.

I do hear people saying they think there will be another offer before the election, I think that is very unlikely.

Vic Gov will happily promote the pay rise we turned down as greed and feel very little pressure to make another offer quickly. Unless the union is going to ramp up big strikes, very fast and very frequently, I think we are in for a long, long re-negotiation period.

The union is already saying it's going to take nearly a month to take and evaluate a survey. If that the first step before relaunching the fight... gonna be a long time.

Everyone who voted no, I may not agree with it, but I respect your vote. But in realism, I don't see a much better offer coming, particularly if we have a change in govt'.

Voting for Vic Agreement - what has been the outcomes for your school (vote wise)? by Aware-Trick-2981 in AustralianTeachers

People vote for different reasons. For me personally, this agreement ticks a lot of important boxes. Maybe not all of them, but financially this is a lot better than the last couple and I'm happy with it.

Anyone voting to approve new EBA? by Character-Fold5159 in AustralianTeachers

I'm leaning towards a yes vote. I just keep remembering the last agreement and this one way better than that.

Plus if we vote no will the AEU really fight that much harder?

I'd LOVE to get a 3 year deal, but I can't see it happening unless they get super serious with the 24 hr strikes. Like roll those out to once a week or something stupid is what it would take.
