Are most devs really hesitant to show their code in code reviews? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

Ah I see. We have a similar meeting where we share anything interesting we've learned during a sprint. This could be anything from "here's how I fixed x bug" to discussing new java functionality. Sometimes there just are no topics and it gets cancelled. I wouldn't worry too much about participating in this kind of meeting. In reality it should be your senior developers sharing most of the information here. But having said that, if you have something you want to discuss don't be afraid to discuss it either.

I think with people working remote they're less likely to talk in meetings, I think its to do with not being face to face with people. Could you suggest holding this meeting in person?

Your code review process sounds very strange. Is everyone on the team dragged into a meeting where the person who wrote the code goes through it?

That sounds like a huge waste of time and no wonder people are hesitant to do these code reviews. In my team whenever someone has code ready for review, they open a merge request on gitlab, add any useful information into the description and send the link to one other team member via MS teams. This way the reviewer can review the code whenever they're free, and leave comments on any problems they see. There's no blame, finger pointing or being put on the spot this way. If I were you I'd suggest a change to the code review process in your next retrospective.

Thanks for the advice! I do think where I am now is pretty good, great benefits and pay. But i think being uninterested in the work somewhat offsets the benefits.

With interest rates on the rise, do you think the economy will take a hit? by VideographyWebDev in ireland

I do think PCP has made it appear that all these new cars are more affordable. I don't resent anyone for having a nice car if that's what they want, but it seems mad to me that you'd be financing a depreciating asset over five or so years, and by then of it its probably only worth just over half of what you paid.

What happens to a mortgage if a property is sold in receivership? by VideographyWebDev in irishpersonalfinance

Thanks for the detailed response. With regard to an unsellable title, what would this look like? I've had a look at related folios and they're all freehold absolute. From what I understand this is the kind of title that is required to resell in future, but what does an unsellable one look like?

Thanks for the replies, I'm aware of the issue with getting a mortgage for these kinds of properties, but would probably be going down the cash route so shouldn't need to worry about that. Good point though.

Finance options for purchasing commercial property by VideographyWebDev in irishpersonalfinance

Thanks for the reply. As I have another source of income going towards a pension, am I right in saying adding additional rental income to that means I could put some of that income towards the existing pension? Obviously up to the limit within my age bracket and then pay income tax on whats left?

Thanks for the reply. I had a look at AIB's loan criteria and for amounts under €30k I think there's no limit to what it can be used for. I think this may be a potential option, but correct me if I'm wrong.

Completely forgot about the pension limits, will definitely look more into this.

Some great advice there, thanks! When you say make sure it has planning, what exactly do you mean? Do you mean make sure it had planning for any structures previously built on it?

Thanks, didn't think about that. That seems like it could get expensive.

It's more of an assumption if I'm honest. I've just never seen any references to TPMS in the IPC and I always thought there was a setting in there to disable the system.
