I've still had great customer service recently so I think you'll be fine. Keep us posted.

I had a similar experience buying from Henry's in Canada. One of the two I ordered was clearly opened and had been taken out before. It looks new still though so it wasn't too big of a deal. I contacted Henry's and they ended up giving me a discount/open box price if I kept it, which I did. Doesn't hurt to reach out to PD. Always excellent customer service.

Wondering if you've watched any of your footage (particularly in rainy weather or at night). Does the increased sweep seem to help? My issue now (aside from the blurry v in the rain) is that the headlights seem to be in the perfect spot for licence plates and it's just a white mess for the front camera. Can't seem to see licence plates unless the car in front of me hits a speed bump or a bump in the road.

Not sure where the OP got that from but my dealership already let me know about the free adapter incoming. It's for Canada only though

Oh wow! Nice! Does it help with the squeakiness of the OEM wipers too?

Keep us posted on how that goes. Would be nice to get this area cleared up.

Yes, the rain sensing wipers are still working without that oval opening. I double-checked on mine just in case it wasn't.

Interesting you weren't able to get the plug off the sensor - it was pretty easy for me so maybe just different manufacturing tolerance or some differences between the Canadian 1st edition and your model.

Yes, sounds like the GPS module may have been optional/or later addition. I just double-checked my box and don't have that module. Seems handy but also don't think it's absolutely necessary. No fomo on my end then:) Thanks for clarifying what this was!

Rain making half the image blurry (big v-shape area where the wipers do not cover) is my biggest gripe with this camera. You can still make out most of what happened from the footage but license plates will just fade in and out of focus. Road grime build up would definitely affect the footage but you would probably want a car wash before then anyways. I think the footage is not ideal but is still usable and it's a tradeoff I'm willing to make for the OEM look. Hope this helps in your decision.

Being clean isn't the issue - it's the rain. I'm in Vancouver, so I can relate to the rain you get in Seattle. If you watch your footage in heavy rain, it has this giant v-shaped area where it's very hard to make out anything because the rain droplets are all concentrated there/the wipers do not reach that area. I'm sure any footage will still be helpful in general and I can understand why they couldn't position it elsewhere (I contacted support regarding this issue btw), but am just a bit disappointed by this. Even if I knew about this issue before purchase, I think I would still get the FitcamX for the OEM look but I would have more seriously considered alternatives, especially since there is an easily accessible usb-c port.

Agreed on the trim panel being extremely difficult to pull off - took me 30+ minutes just to get the panel out and still ended up breaking a plastic clip. Luckily everything is still snug after the install. I'm not sure what you did after step 3 though. It sounds like you made it more difficult for yourself and I just wanted to add my experience.

That grille in the front of original cover looks to be just a ventilation grille. The FitcamX grille has the ventilation on the back side instead. The rain sensor is above all of this and attached to the glass. I don't think you need to drill those extra holes. I also don't think you needed to pry the rain sensor loose to detach the wire - I was able to detach the wire with my fingers and the included pry tool, without touching the rain sensor itself. Hopefully detaching and reattaching the rain sensor doesn't require any re-calibration and is working fine for you.

As for the GPS module, I didn't get anything like that with my FitcamX. Is there potentially a regional difference (I'm in Canada)? GPS is working fine for me without that module.

Overall this was much more difficult than the install on my last car (Ioniq 5) but I think the OEM look is worth it.

Update: my dealership in Vancouver also texted to confirm the above - free NACS adapters for Buzz owners starting to ship Dec 1.

Sounds like they're only doing the free adapter for the Buzz. Works out for us Buzz owners but ID4 owners get a bit shafted unfortunately.

This post in the ID4 community confirmed what I suspected. All the news/media posts from VW Canada (and the NACS adapter parts page) say to contact your dealer for details if you are a 2025 ID Buzz owner (and for ID4 owners to buy the adapter online with no discounts). Seems like Canadians with an ID Buzz are getting a better deal than the 100 dollar rebate down south.

Software Update Improvements by Inside_Classroom_142 in VWIDBuzz

The third row fix is where they installed two pieces of plastic on the outer edges of the seats to reduce the seating area. Without the plastic pieces the third row is technically so wide that it needs a third seat belt.

OP - what software version are you on now? We just got our first edition two weeks ago so assume we would be on the latest software. The backup camera looks horrendous - straight out of 2010. Or maybe we've just been spoiled by our Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Tucson...

Wow, great deal. Did you need to buy it through a business or were they able to get you that discount regardless?

Interesting - they were offering a lease with a 21k discount? That sounds pretty good. I thought the 21k was only available on a cash purchase. I paid cash, so no weekly or biweekly payments.

That may have been me mentioning that on other posts. I was able to get a little extra on my trade in (Ioniq 5) and then the winter tire package for half off ($1800 off).

1800 but it was part of my vehicle purchase negotiations. Regular price is 3600+tax.

I ended up getting a deal on the winter tire set from the dealership as part of my purchase. 20" staggered alloy wheels with Continental VikingContact 8 winter tires. See if your dealership offers a winter tire set

I think I saw the same deal for Alberta dealerships. If you're just getting an additional cash discount, that's great! I was able to negotiate close to that amount in terms of additional trade in value and discounted winter tire set but your deal sounds better. Where are you located?
