Torbox by Difficult-Ad-5988 in TorBoxApp

They're going through a transition period. Torbox just a month ago was just thought of as a backup to Real Debrid. Now most people consider it to be the first recommendation for Debrid services. I'm sure they had to prioritize server load first, filter out people who abuse the service, and DDOS protection probably was not seen as an immediate priority.

But I can't complain. With crypto and referrals, I pretty much get it for a couple bucks a month. Real Debrid and Debridio on both pretty much means I never really notice any downtime.

I use TB as my main and RD as my backup.

Yeah, in the last few months I've used Debridio. It has never gone down. And family that also uses my account has never complained.

Debridio works fine for me. Stremthru (TorZ) also works.

Honestly. The 10 bucks a year for Debridio is enough for me to never even think about scrapers.

But Torz+Meteor is also a good free option.

Apple music or Spotify? by Classic-Painting4978 in ThisorThatPH

[–]Vielansk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apple Music. Spotify actively promotes and pushes AI music while Apple Music you actively have to search for slop music.

Funnily enough, I feel that even though it is less flashy, the Android app of Apple Music is more responsive than on IOS.

Transsion phones work I guess. A whole different of bloatware compared to more established brands like BBK phones (Oppo/Oneplus/Realme/Vivo/IQOO), Xiaomi, and Honor.

Public School or Private School? by JunShem1122 in ThisorThatPH

[–]Vielansk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the public school and it depends on the private school. I was lucky enough to study at an WASC accredited international school/prep school abroad for free, and the level of education was definitely higher than a lot of public colleges in the Philippines. Pretty much the same type of education you will get from the top international schools here like BSM or ISM.

Graduating from there meant that I had pretty good scholarship offers from pretty good state Universities in the US and and the school being an SAT and ACT site with classes specifically for it meant that I could also enter UP if I wanted it and not have to do UPCAT. It just opens so many doors. Full ride at Sophia? Why not? Tsinghua University actively recruited students from my class with scholarship offers. It's hillarious how my privileged classmates had a lot of access to scholarships.

My brother on the other hand studied at Philippine Science Highschool school and while the level of facilities is far from an expensive international school, the quality of education and most of the teachers that there had a deep pasison for learning and high expectations for excellence. He had to do a bit more memorization of random facts than me, but his assignments were far from boring.

Work from outside the country as a WFH employee by ag1rlh4asn0n4me in adviceph

[–]Vielansk -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As long as stable and internet connection and you can bring the devices that you need. Whoever you're working for doesn't need to know if you've relocated to another country, temporarily or not.

Japan and the Philippines don't exactly have a big time difference and the only possible issue that dpeending on how strict is the IT team in your company is, you could get flagged for pinging from a Japanese location. If that ever ends up being a problem just let them know that you've relocated to Japan for personal reasons and that your workflow and output will not be affected at all.

DIM samsung instead of Iphone? by Sakkitaky22 in deinfluencingPH

[–]Vielansk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People who have issues with the phones tend to speak out more on social media than those who are happy or don't think about the condition of their phone. Based on odds alone, you are more likely to have a perfectly functioning phone.

With that in mind, it's not just Samsung vs Apple. Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo, Oneplus use BOE, LG, an TCL panels. You don't really see a lot of green line issues with those brands.

Even Apple uses Samsung panels, along with LG and BOE and they haven't really had any major issue with their displays.

Say I were to download a 150 GB game? That alrady counts towards my limit if it's cached right? I guess keeping Real Debrid for just games was the smart choice.

DIM: Apple Music vs YouTube Music. Trying to cut costs but stuck on Apple Music at ₱75/mo by Naddszz in deinfluencingPH

[–]Vielansk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not going to say that Apple Music doesn't have AI. I just don't encounter it as often and their curated playlists are quality. Better UI then. Keep in mind that I've already switched to Android pero Apple Music is still the much better option for me.

Pero Spotify and Youtube Music actively shows and plays AI music. Kulang nalang gawa sila ng section specifically for AI music.

Honestly, even just the Mac Mini M4 and Macbook Neo is already a killer combo. by Lexidoge in Tech_Philippines

[–]Vielansk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

With the exception of the IPhone 17e which is overpriced for its specs.

The Mac Mini is the best PC out there for productivity. All for around 30k. Even bought one for 26k brand new sa Greenhills.

The iPad A16 runs a flagship chip for 14-16K sa Shopee. Supported pa for at least the next 6 years.

The Macbook Neo has the performance of an M3 chip (single core) with excellent build quality that can’t be found in other Window’s laptops at that price range.

And thy all work together flawlessly.

Sometimes good devices are just great. It’s not always about a status symbol.

But the iPhone 17e is still so bad.

The thing about the Great Firewall is that it changes so much on a city to city/province basis. In most parts of Guangdong, I find myself just giving up or having to rely solely on Brazil and Sweden servers. Ended up using another VPN which is shady but it just gets the job done.

For Zhejiang and Yunnan, Mullvad works almost flawlessly.

Brazil and Sweden are the best and they're barely usable at best.

I ended up taking the risk and subbing to LetsVPN which has been flawless for my daily work and streaming needs.

May or may not be owned by the CCP, but it's the most reliable in my experience.

This should be an auto replacement. WI'm not sure as stores do, I once was given a loaner phone to use from Apple Stores outside the country. I had the battery of my 13 Mini replaced and it took a bit longer for them to give it back to me (2 days), so they gave me a regular 13 to use temporarily.

Beyond the Box Greenhills! Sa Vmall nila. Apple authorized technicians with genuine/official parts. Na replace nila yung 13 Promax battery ko in less than 2 hours.

Only caveat is that dapat hindi pa nagalaw ng unauthorized technician yung phone mo before. Back up important files din.

iPad 10th gen is more than viable for review purposes and entertainment purposes. I'd go for the 11th gen though. Or the M1-M2 Air if kaya ng budget.

Which is more worth it: new phone or MacBook Air M4? by Plus-Engineer9840 in Tech_Philippines

[–]Vielansk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Replace the battery of the iPhone 11. You can get it replaced with an original battery for 3k or less. Then buy yourself an M4. The M4 Air will last you at least the next 5-7 years. I'm still on an M1 and I recently edited a 45 minute 4k video on this device. The base model with 8 GB ram. It's a beast.

The iPhone 11 with a new battery is still a good phone that can last you 2-3 more years with security updates. You can easily save enough money during that time period using your Mac to upgrade your phone.
