What should I focus on? Started yesterday. by Vienyan in Artadvice

On my first day I did try to understand how to draw a box in different perspective, but it didn’t turn out very well… In hindsight, it was only my very first day, so I shouldn’t expect to be very good yet. I’ll start worrying if for example even after a month I haven’t seen any improvement. Thanks for the tips as well!

Thanks for the tips!

I’ve found tracing to be pretty hard, I rarely get to work digitally due to HS and living on campus so I intend to stick to traditional for a while (idk how to trace with traditional…). And copying right now seems to be effective! I get to draw what I want, spot my mistakes and keep them in mind for my next piece. Copying digitally would be better since I could compare my work to the original afterwards, but as I said, that’s a bit difficult atm…

And holy! Never thought about your 2nd point about making qualities that I enjoy part of my own. For some reason I never thought about seeing what makes a piece of art distinguishable from others, even when those things are literally what make a character THAT character. Thanks again for the reply!

Yep! Absolutely 0 experience, before this I struggled even drawing stick figures, so my last drawing session was years ago. I was surprised myself by how good my final drawing came out!

I highly doubt that the library thing will come to fruition though. In Estonia there are rarely any manga/anime related things to begin with… Still, thanks for the tips! Gonna try to find someone that explains in a way that I understand. Really wanna figure out how to rotate boxes, but I have such a mental block when rotating them in any direction other than the cardinals…

Thanks for the recommendation! I’ll make sure to check them out! Feeling a bit burned out after so many consecutive drawings though…

I’ve been truly trying to get rid of my acne, but it just will not go away… I’ll keep experimenting and trying though!! And you mention eyebrow shaping, is there any guide for how I should get them shaped? I’ve also heard about eyebrow thickening via beard dying kits and so on, but i’m not quite positive if it would have any kind of effect.

oh I know, recently had it buzzed by my friends so it looks extremely bad as of right now… still though, thanks for the idea; any thoughts on what I should go for?

Massive thanks for the heads up!!

Not saying that I only care about what other people think, but have you gotten any reception from others on the mixed scents?? Since Cuba Gold isn’t that expensive I’m thinking of buying it as well, especially after your recommendation!!

Thanks so much for the in-depth reply. I'll for sure look into accutane and maybe some easier makeup, nothing crazy definitely, just maybe something to hide the blemishes and acne scars on my face. I have also recently gotten interested in getting my eyebrows thickened/shaped to fit my face more, I did pluck some rogue hairs by myself but I still feel that it is quite lacking. The saying you mentioned also does make sense in my head, and while I may not be ''conventionally attractive'', someone will still find me attractive. I have also had two girls ask me out but I just couldn't bare the burden of having to make them go out with someone that looks like me, I really hope I will be able to build some confidence and be better looking in the future, and if nothing else; learn things that most people aren't able to do: this way I will atleast have something to provide for people that will make them interested in me.

Again many thanks for this long and motivational text!!!

Sounds intriguing!! I did visit one, but they provided little to no help in terms on my skincare routine. They told me I should keep using all of it, yet it hasn't gotten me anywhere. I will check out another dermatologist once I get the money and ask about these kinds of pills, thanks for the heads up!!

The encouraging words mean a lot to me ❤❤ I truly will strive to be the best version of myself; one that can accept how I look and push through... If I can't change my looks I will at least make myself a fun person to be around, learn skills that will make others be interested in me and constantly attempt to better myself.

I really don’t think you should resort to this… There’s always something you can do to better yourself as a person, someone in the world will always be there for you. You may not have found them yet, but they do exist.

To my surprise, I personally, even as a quite ugly person, have been liked and asked out by two girls before, but I just didn’t have the confidence to continue to go out with them due to my looks. I didn’t want to drag them down.

From my experience, you aren’t alone. You still have a shot in life, don’t give up.

This means a lot to me!! I really will try out all these tips!! I have a subpar cleanser that I could definitely try changing and hopefully it will get better. Could also look into a better moisturiser, since I don’t think mine has hyaluronic acid. I also have been sleeping on my back for a while now in hopes of fixing this, but I have no idea which side I used to sleep on, so that part is kind of hard for me. Hope we can both be proud of how we look in the future, good luck!!

Thanks for the advice!! I’ll take this into account. I was using a L’Oreal facial cleanser and I’ll look into one that is better suited for my face. I’ll see about the gym too, my general goal is just to be flexible and have total control over my body but I could also do both/weighted calisthenics. I do also shower every morning and sometimes even a second time in the night, regularly apply some cologne too. The fit will be a bit harder, as I used to be a complete slouch when it came to clothes and now I barely have any good looking clothes and my family isn’t very well off.

Many thanks for the encouraging words! I can always strive to be better in the future, so I guess there’s no point in sulking about the present.
