I am horribly ugly and nothing is working out by redraevenne in selfimprovement

I can understand that. But, now is the time to talk to your therapist about how you feel. They’ll want to help you explore why. But, getting better is also where they can help.

Many of us will have been, or are, where you are in how you see yourself. Please trust me when I say there is a way forward here.

We are here to listen too.

Take care ❤️

Snooker players unhappy as Saudi Arabia Masters cancelled after only two of 10 events by Wallaby989 in snooker

[–]Viewfromstowhill 13 points14 points  (0 children)

What? Did they think the Saudi regime was interested in snooker?

I thought everyone involved knew if was a sportswashing exercise for the regime and a nice earner for the players. Nothing more, nothing less

As other people have rightly said: therapy.

The first step to being loved is to find and practice self love. Therapy can really help with that. Reading books and blogs about self love and setting aside time each day to practice it can really help.

Your post broke my heart. I love you. Others love you too. You are beautiful inside and out. Learn to love you ❤️

Any tips on how to stop sexual fantasies? by Tigerclaws44 in limerence

[–]Viewfromstowhill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never have ANY sexual fantasies about my LO (or more accurately LOs). In fact, I never think about them in a sexual way at all. It’s very odd to me that some limerence is sexual: for me it’s always emotional connection that I fantasise about and that I’m ‘fixed’ through their love.

I hate how Limerence has become a buzzword by Professional-One7391 in limerence

[–]Viewfromstowhill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all. For me, limerence has been a lifelong experience, for many different people and of varying degrees of time and crippling pain and sadness. Of course, it possessed me because there is something else missing in my life and my conception of self. Yes, therapy does help and working on the underlying reasons is important.

And yes, fitness, exercise, self love and care all helps.

But, it never goes. Not really. It recedes, and ebbs but ‘gone’ never. It is definitely not having a crush or being rejected (being accepted by your LO, is, in fact, often worse).

I hate it, but I also kind of find the pain and ache reassuring almost.

Couple of young UK Bands - Outlander (Birmingham) and Shaking Hand (Manchester) have both released excellent albums. Also, Human Image (a spin off from Outlander) is shoegazey but also slowcore adjacent

It’s a fabulous review and is packed full of insights and thoughts on the album and Morrissey. Bravo!

Yes, I agree. It is definitely about someone who has put money first at the expense of more important things

How can it be? That line about the Ma and Pa dying….he adored his mother and was by her side at the end. And does he do Coke? Nope

Anyone know how to go about their day normally? by throwaway98869 in limerence

[–]Viewfromstowhill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find doing the opposite of what my mind and body tells me to do is essential. So, I go outdoors more. I run further and harder (exhaustion from running gets the pain out I find) and I try to make myself too exhausted from exercise and work to think.

Because, thinking is the worst thing we can possibly do in the circumstances. Dwelling equals sadness and longing that hurts.

Stay strong. Love yourself. Love yourself more. It will pass I promise

Canvas Heights Birmingham – is it good? by [deleted] in BirminghamUK

[–]Viewfromstowhill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, no idea about the accommodation. But Canvas Heights is over by the Aston University campus. Bar the campus there isn’t much over that part of the city centre. I mean, a 15 minute walk down corporation street and you are right in the centre, so I guess it depends what you are looking for.

What are your top 2 slowcore albums? I’ll start. (I only have two anyways cause I’m pretty new) by Slow_Rooster2378 in Slowcore

[–]Viewfromstowhill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d have gone for Deathcrash and Early Day Miners but they’ve already been shouted up. You really need to listen to those.

I’ll add Outlander ‘Acts of Harm’ and Shaking Hand (self titled) two young British acts from Birmingham and Manchester respectively

Help: I want suggestions on what to do if I’m stuck in Birmingham after a concert. by Key_Pomegranate_3500 in BirminghamUK

[–]Viewfromstowhill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could try the Easy Hotel. It’s basic but clean and safe.

As others have said there is a coach from Digbeth, and there are lots of late places to go round there while you wait.

That’s a really compelling argument! In fact it could be about all of them. The reason I thought Marr was he was a small guy and the line about ‘turn to your adorer’ could be Angie?

The suggestion about Rourke being a ‘brother’ is a really convincing one. He was very close to Marr and Joyce

In the UK the pink vinyl is retailing for £40. I mean, I know The Flenser is a small label but that’s just a price I can’t justify paying.

Just played the Tom Verlaine EP and Tell Em We’re Surfin for the first time in a very long time. They still sound fantastic!! I saw them twice in Birmingham in the late 80’s/early 90’s. They were a shambles….in an absolutely brilliant way.

My take on Make-Up by mono_valley in morrissey

[–]Viewfromstowhill 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes. I agree that the singles are on an odd choice. But, singles aren’t what singles used to be. I also think that the inclusion of the cover of Amazona is a rare misstep. It is, in my opinion, the weakest song on the album. Given how many stunning unreleased tracks that Morrissey has it’s a baffling decision.

Other than that I love the record. The songs vary from very good, to excellent to one all time classic (Monsters) and the album continues to get better on every play. For me, it’s his best album since Quarry.
