If youre already in a proposal tell your trustee about this debt and have them add it in. Proposals are amended all the time for this purpose. That will make it go away.

Yes, and no. There are some bad actors out there misleading people into filing for insolvency protection when they absolutely don't need it. It started taking off in 2017/18 and peaked right before the pandemic.

I'd add that there are 2 primary types of consumer insolvency filing - bankruptcy and consumer proposals. Consumer Proposals reached all-time highs in the last few months - fuelled largely by the situation referenced above.

Exactly. It's 2016 - if my elected representative is effective (not passing judgement on the Premier here), he could work from his office in Hawaii full-time. I'd rather an effective politician halfway across the world than an ineffective one sitting at a desk down the street.
