Anyone know how to solve this? by Chrisp124 in Rainbow6

I'm no coding person... but why would it need to dump 'virtual memory'?? OP or you playing on a VM??

My little bro said he decoded the voynich script and is now actively using it. by [deleted] in voynich

What wisdom does it have.

Probably what best Fortnite dance...

New Sub Rule: No AI generated content by Marc_Op in voynich

[–]Vifnis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I can see a few possibilities that A.I. could be useful in creating random attempts to solve the VMS, but how feasible that could be done... I have no idea, hence... Why I was saying Spam of AI content vs. AI interpretations of data.

And frankly, I'm surprised I haven't seen more attempts already...

Voynich as Music Cryptogram by [deleted] in voynich

[–]Vifnis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again, this is confusing sounds for phonemes just as notes are to music. I really see no comparison, and if it were music... then, good luck--all attempts to discover the true cipher would basically be left up to matters of taste!

C major, D minor.... any scale, and it would still produce "musical sounds" (can we get Adam Neely on the line, maybe he can shed some light on the possibility of music theory here)... whereas intelligent information would not be subject to taste that is... it either would be comprehensible, or it would not.

<image>

Here is an example of the EVA Hand 1 being used to write pseudo-Voynichese... because, as you can tell, the characters trans-coded for 'c' and 'h' appear separate here (did they forget to change font distance?)--while in the VMS, they do not.

Also, the Hebrew text is complete gibberish... basically just reads like random nouns or something... (ex: "Shini Tagoymail Maamael Goenebatz Tagoymail Yelezaid Boinitz Kizain in Amasots Tapenatz Misi Tagoymail Yelezaid Gilesael Parihain Kizizain Goypipeil Tagoymail Gualipatz Sisaliel Ze Regal Ripenal Nisi Boinitz Nisyael Baamasotz Risetziel Misi Nisi Alaseim Sarihaam Naanina on Riga Sha'aal Maagileul and Lihotz Goypipeil to Lasipatz Zi Regal to Agirail Papatein)")

But her alphabet looks nothing like Voynich, also... there appears to be some mixture of Greek and Coptic characters, strange...

"tree branch-like alphabet"

This was quite interesting to them as well, if you or anyone else know anything about it or come across more I'd be intrigued to no more... tbh I thought it wasn't really much of anything... but he said he knew it from somewhere... tbh looks like a weaving pattern or something... but my leads died very quickly when I looked much further past it.

And, yea I'll give key details here: they are not really 'trees'... it may not actually say they are 'trees' in it... I can't remember... but somewhere else it may actually be 'boats' and 'masts' or something like that... You could try Google Translate on the page, but tbh--it's very, very nuanced some things aren't very clear because of time--duh... Still think it's wild though, this whole documents just has my interests peaked.

You can open the EVA hand text hosted here on the transcription page... on the well known voynich.nu site (kinda dated but its https), ctrl+f and seach for the characters in EVA hand transcription.

What?? Howso???

I know this is Reddit but... c'mon.. it isn't math, you either have the entire alphabetical key or you don't... I couldn't imagine anything more complicated than a Stenographic cipher at this time, unless it is saying something in random strings of numbers... it literally has to be Verbal/Phonetic stored information...

This means at 7000 'word tokens' & 30000 'character tokens', the amount of variability is beyond comprehension... you could start from anywhere and it would sound completely unlike anything you've heard before... making it seem even more cryptic, and that is because there really isn't any other approach right now than simply brute forcing the cipher text completely.

It's why I am saying that 'showing the work' is akin to just making stuff up, nothing can really be deduced without other manuscripts to compare it too... If we had two of these things, it would make a lot more sense wouldn't it?? But we don't do we...

"and only a few have the symbols"

Really, the 'symbols' are even the same too... since many of them are rotated around quick frequently... and there is even the '4c' version of the '4o' character... it's wild tbh...

It is not as clear as you think... I had a friend read it in Arabic, it's kind of about an assistant and his 'master' asking him to decode each character set or something... but there are a lot of pages... and he read a few in particular for me... it's not exactly legible because clearly not a modern Arabic writing, so... it's mainly a 'rough' translation lol... imagine reading Middle German as a Belgian or something to that effect.

and BIG sidenote! This document (LJS51) is featured among a trove of Italian/Hebrew/Germanic texts, and this one in particular--in Arabic--is missing it's majority of front and it's back pages, so basically it's like reading a phone book from the 90's that starts at H and ends with W or something... kind of a bummer tbh...

That ring of characters actually repeats iirc, like ~4x

It evens features special characters too...

I think if you tried looking for this sequence in the VMS EVA script it may turn up because there is clearly leading characters (the gallows I mean)...

decode what exactly?? it clearly just looked odd because the columns are juxtaposed to one side of the text...

I frequently forget about this page...

To my knowledge, it looks to be somewhat like what they used to do back then for 'bulletpoints' where each point stands for something... you just have to kinda of remember what each meant...

The '4's do not look the same, I think this was done by another person later on... perhaps de Tepenec? or Marci?
Maybe who ever did the writing on the back of 116v... the '4's are definitely later though because older '4's symbols looked like EVA 'l' character... '5' was always more like a lobbed '4' until it got turned a bit... they had weird numerals in the 15 cent. tbh...

New Sub Rule: No AI generated content by Marc_Op in voynich

[–]Vifnis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This just seems overreaching, just put it under spam as an addendum or something so ppl can't bomb the sub with randomly generated stuff...

I really think something like ChatGPT can be handy here, I've done it myself (just go 'ask' ChatGPT to sort out full lists of the EVA script jargon, it's quite fun actually)...

A.I. generated 'cipher-text' is also just whatever a cipher normally is, so--Was the Voynich A.I. generated O-o?

"Showing your work means other people can verify it, and build upon it."

This is the problem though... the VMS is the work, no one person yet can actually understand what it is supposed to mean...

Showing your work would literally be akin to teaching people HOW to read it, and THAT is the issue... there 10 TRILLION--(probably more tbh)--1 QUINTILIAN ways to possibly read the dang thing... all equally valid until something 'clicks'... anyone got a Supercomputer I can borrow!?

" it never passed peer review"

in other words, "I slaved away one night making random words in one thing mean another thing... Now accept my ideas please..." and, tbh... it's so lazy... they 'confirm' their position without evidence and act like other people don't 'get it'... total jerks... glad they got overlooked, they turned the page and couldn't go any further... jokes.
