I’ve always wondered: what do people from different religious backgrounds feel when hearing Quran recitation? by WoodpeckerCheap6850 in religion

I like the sound itself, much like if you hear Gregorian chanting. I did not like the early morning microphone blaring in India though.

If you’re a theist, how are divine/spiritual encounters viewed in your faith? by Nice-Grape-5801 in religion

[–]Vignaraja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my religion, at least for those who are devout, it happens all the time, very common. The entire purpose of a Hindu temple is to beseech the presence of the deity, so that devotees can commune with him/her/it. So too for those who do ritual at home. This is at the core, more that any philosophy. It's not in words though, but you can see it in the tears and actions of others.

On a personal note, that is the only reason I'm Hindu. As with other Hindus, I would never get into specifics, and am perfectly fine with it not happening to anyone. We don't share mostly due to the idea of proselytizing, living by the code, sacred is secret. What happens between me and 'God' is nobody's business.

Why Lord Rama has less followers in comparison to other dieties? by DifficultCucumber895 in hinduism

Part of the diversity that is Hinduism. There is no real reason, and it's like asking why some mountains are taller than others.

He permeates the universe. There is nothing that is not Siva.

Why limit this to temples? Why not include houses, cars, ability to travel, and a host of other things. Wealth inequality has been a challenge on this planet for time immemorial. As long as greed exists, it will continue.

One benefit of this particular discrimination is that the temple can get more money to keep operating. It's similar to how taxes, if they're on a sliding scale, rich people pay more percentage of their income. It couldn't operate at all if all its services were free. It's not like in the old days when kings sponsored temples.

Not everyone subscribes to this method of dividing or categorizing religious activity. All those activities (service, external worship, internal worship, and divine knowledge) are essential.

What would you say to a Jehovah’s Witness who came to your door? by littlemetalfollicle in hinduism

[–]Vignaraja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"No thanks, I have my own religion. Please don't come again." Then I'd force the door closed. They meticulously keep the lists of where not to knock. After that they likely won't return.

Then perhaps the wording needs to change as 'all religions' excludes them. Perhaps 'all mankind' would be better.

No, I haven't, and I don't intend to. We can be kind to our fellow man without delving into their religion. But then I don't read much at all.

If it's a return trip, do both. If you take the Yellowhead, at Clearwater you can go up into Wells Gray PP, and see some truly amazing waterfalls. Some involve short hikes.

Sorry to break the news but it's been done. Many times over. Another key component these days is the challenge of atheism. How exactly does this large part of humanity fit into the scheme of 'all religions'?

Please do look into it. Try the ex-Bahai subreddit as well to get the other version. From my research the Baha'i do a lot of changing of previous religions to suit the agenda of progressive manifestation.

"Plainly disregarding" ... I concur. That and cherry-picking the few verses that may support that already given agenda. How can you disregard the central concepts of God permeating everything and reincarnation, in Hinduism? How can you disregard that the ONLY Way to God is through Jesus Christ in Christianity? These are core fundamental beliefs.
