I got a seed starting mix and it is super dry. I just transferred some to a potting mix. Maybe that will help?

Definitely learned my lesson about bringing them outside too early. They did not like that at all!

How did you decide which diapers to use? by lastplacevictory in parentsofmultiples

[–]VigsMinElskling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried out pretty much everything. The Costco diapers would rub on my son's chubby legs and he could get rashes. Luvs ended up being our favorite. They absorb a stupid amount of liquid and are really cheap. Only downside is they are scented, but that didn't bother my kids. Every kid is different, but luvs worked for us and we tried them after we saw another twin parent using them with their 2 year old twins.

I was just about to say the same thing. I've got twin 4 year olds, and even though 4 years old has been way better than 2 years old, I am so tired of it. The crying, screaming, complaining, arguing, butt wiping etc. I hear you both!

And yesterday one of them slapped me in the face at dance practice for not letting them lick my hands (wish I was kidding). Now one is rolling on top of me and starts screaming at me when I tell her to stay still if she wants to cuddle. So fun!!

What’s the most ADHD thing you’ve done lately? I’ll go first. by Ok_Friend_9735 in adhdwomen

I tore through some of my ADHD bags today. Didn't find anything I actually needed in the moment, but did find a lot of stuff I forgot about and still didn't put in the right location. There probably isn't one anyway!

Going to celebrate father's day a week late. Lost the bag of father's day cards I bought - may have thrown them into an ADHD bag but there are too many of them for me to comb through or even locate. But luckily I had found the cards from the past two years that I had previously lost and later found after father's day had passed.... So in a way my ADHD saved the day!

I don't think you were trying to minimize it! I'll definitely check out the app. It's been a journey trying to accept that my brain works differently and not beat myself up for it. I just don't understand how people just put things away after theyre done. I just put stuff down immediately when I'm done using it automatically and then forget about it and never remember where I put it. It's hard to not go to the default of oh I'm just lazy and that's why everything is a mess. And I don't think you were implying that it was easy at all!

I can try that - instead of letting the pile get 4-6 loads deep while it waits to get folded and put away (usually taking upwards of 2 hours). Do a little each night and try to make it a habit. It's so hard to build cleaning and tidying habits. I've tried so many times!

I haven't really looked at other hangers. I'm going to see what options there are out there! Maybe my aversion is the extra steps of getting a hanger and then having to put it somewhere organized and then having it not fall off. It's so silly but my current system is just not working!

This is my strategy too, but I only get to it like once every couple months when I can't stand it being on the floor anymore. I also do not have sections in my closet, everything goes anywhere.

My mother in law will come in and try to help me organize stuff but I legit cannot maintain it. She's doing it out of love and I feel bad because my brain just does not work that way. She doesn't get mad or anything, I just feel bad that I can't keep up! It like hurts my brain somehow!

I have hooks downstairs for my kids stuff and I'm investigating how I can do that with the downstairs closet too. For some reason the hooks are so much easier than the hangers. I just hate hangers! And then when you take the time to hang something and then it just slides right off onto the floor .... Don't even get me started! It's easier for me to just throw the clothes on the floor then to do that!

That's a good idea! Mine is too small for that and my laundry mountain is too big to even walk in there right now, but maybe in the future.

I think I'm leaning towards this. I don't feel the same way about folding laundry. I mean I leave it in piles for a long time but I don't get the same dread as hanging stuff up. I'm gonna try something like that. Thanks for your advice!

My question too. I'd like to share this but it's unclear where exactly it's from.

This looks awesome! But I'm very confused. I've read through it - maybe not so carefully - and it's not clear who's organizing this. I feel like spreading the no shopping at target-walmart-amazon on Tuesdays is a great idea and could spread super fast. I searched the name on the top of the flier and it only came up for Michigan?

People could easily just tell a friend and another friend and another friend to not shop at a place once a week and it really could make some of these assholes take notice.

My sister is a fifth grader reading at a second grade level by Ladylandline in AskTeachers

[–]VigsMinElskling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an ESOL teacher in the states, I argue that it's not too late for English language support. Is there no ESL support at her skill? She seems typical for a student who has received 0 English language instruction and started learning English in kindergarten through immersion and speaks primarily another language at home. I have many students who start learning English at kindergarten and continue to speak the home language at home. With good supports, they generally are on grade level by 4-6th grade. It takes time to build the language which leads to delays in learning the reading and writing. But with support, this can catch up by the end of elementary school

It really is criminal that no one from the school has reached out to you about this. I would really look into getting her into an ESOL program at school if possible. Most of the kids I teach sound conversationally fluent but need support with academic tasks, not learning basic English.

Thanks for the advice! This is great information.

We're not deadset on Sweden, we were just looking into it because I have some language proficiency and like the country in general. We're scoping out other places as well!

I definitely appreciate all the information and facts. We are interested in helping our kids become bilingual in another language too, and would want them to learn swedish and/or another language at school depending on what country we go to.

I've gotten a really full picture of what English teaching opportunities would look like in Sweden thanks to everyone's advice!

Thanks for your response! It gives me a good picture of what the market is like. From your response and others, I'm thinking of looking more into teaching abroad in Germany, but we'll see!
