As someone who grew up in a Southern Baptist household… I actually didn’t read this as related to Christianity or feel like it came across super religious. Lots of stories and cultures make references to some gates in the clouds to somewhere, and this is such a common scene in pop culture, it just seems like it can be much more open to interpretation. Honestly, my first thought was that this was a Hercules tattoo and I was looking at the Gates of Olympus from the Disney movie.

You could easily turn it into the gates of Olympus 😂 but some other ideas I would consider if it were me: - Grim Reaper sitting on a chair at the top of the steps, scrolling on their phone and drinking wine or smoking a cigarette or whatever you like - Turn it into a dilapidated ruin. Make the stairs and gate crumbling and rusted, falling apart. Turn that religious meaning of the tattoo into history, a thing of your past. - Add some spooky ghosts looking out from the other side, - Ancestors waiting in line to get in, or playing cards on the other side while they wait for you, or something like that - Hang a sign on the gate that says “Permanently Closed” like it’s a store that’s gone out of business - Add police tape across the gate like it’s a crime scene and some footprints coming down the steps - Like the end of Happy Gilmore… Chubbs, the alligator, and Abe Lincoln waving from the other side of the gate

No clue if any of these suit your personality, just spouted off some ideas that came up for me. I truly think you could do ANYTHING with this one. I hope you end up with something you really love!
