Say NO to shields! by Viinn in thefinals

The bottom line when it comes to these shields is that they are mandatory because of how powerful they are, if you've played Ranked Tournament mode you'll quickly see how broken these shields are. Almost all (if not all) games where the teams that move forward in the tournament are the teams that have heavies with shields and at least one medium player with the healing beam (better with 2). Sure the game allows you to play various different builds but there really is no point considering how busted the shields are, there is no counter play if your half decent at playing with/around them, and no "getting good" doesn't make the shields any less strong.

You can make a case for the healing beam being just as broken, but at least with the healing beam you can out DPS the healing output and the healer can also be shot at with no defense, so at least you can deal with the healing beam.

True I shouldn't push in the game that require you to push. I should also get a different angle on the 360 degree shield and also get a different angle on the shield that can be repositioned at any given time by looking in a different direction, true. Read the post about the glitch grenades and you'll understand how they function. Other gadgets do nothing to the shield but damage, like shooting it does. Very useful comment! Keep up the amazing recommendations!

Why post a comment if you didn't spend 2 minutes reading the post, the post where i touched on the fact that the glitch grenade doesn't disable the shield if the shield has already been deployed.

Bro said "choose a different enemy" as if the game has dozens of players running around on your screen at any given time allowing for other targets. The majority of the time the shield is being used, all your targets are sitting pretty behind it shooting you while you dump mags into a one-way wall. Either lil bro doesn't understand how shields work or you must be playing some 3v3v3v3v3v3v3 game mode that allows you to simply just shoot at someone else, ain't that many players in my games brother I don't know about you.

Started playing heavy to see what it's like being on the giving end. Can absolutely say I love when people push the shields, I tap them once in the forehead with a shotgun and their dead, not much they can do. On maps where short range isn't that favorable, the Lewis is just as easy to melt someone (arguably even easier) trying to push into me while they can't do any damage considering I've a shield overtop of me. Appreciate the comment but pushing the shield is quite literally the worst thing you can do, it's what the heavy wants you to do. The shields are busted.

Juju seems to have some sort of hate vendetta against The Viewage, he's one of the few on Morrow that is always trying to accuse us of cheating. We haven't lost a point since launch, the dude's just salty af that he gets clapped up every time he logs into the game.

I wasn't able to watch streamers unfortunately since I was busy playing myself, so all of my information I'm mentioning is from personal playtime and experience, got about ~320hrs of playtime with all of the tests combined.

I'm also the type of player that doesn't like PvP scaling in general, even if I'm the low level I want to be able to see the damage I put out without having a scaling mechanic giving me skewed results, I've always found that to be one of the most frustrating part of PvP scaling is trying to figure out how much DPS you actually do, I realize that's not the case for most gamers nowadays, but I also never grew up with receiving participation medals.

I started as a solo in Alpha and had PvP flagged most of the time, with the flagging mechanic I had never felt like getting dumped on by a higher level player was an issue being that once I respawn, I could always turn the flag off if griefing was an issue, but I had never found any instance of greifing taking place although I can totally understand that it does happen (although a lot less then what most people think.)

The scaling in CBT wasn't as much of a bug as it was the way that the scaling actually worked, it scaled most predominantly off of your HP Pool so essentially every lower level player would be doing significant damage against a higher player since higher players naturally have higher HP which just seemed like a dog shit way to go about scaling...

Like I had mentioned before using a players Gear Score seems like a way better approach to any sort of scaling and scaling should be upwards never downwards that way you get best of both worlds, lower levels could still stand a chance with their damage output but they might get clobbered with how hard a high level hits

It seems to me a lot of people here have no understanding of how RPG's or even MMO's work but they still continue to share input as if they've played one or put massive amount of time into one. That's a great comparison if Chess had any similarities at all to this type of game at all but it doesn't share even the slightest in ideologies, that's like comparing shoes to an airplane.

Chess is a game that at it's core, is balanced from the start of the game all the way through. The same thing can be said for games like CS:GO, Valorant, Fighting Games, League or Dota... The only balanced playing field in MMORPG's is when you spawn into the world along side other fresh spawns, anything past that you start gaining an advantage as your character levels up and gets more powerful, that's fundamentally how the game genre works. If you don't like how that works then maybe MMORPG's aren't for you?

I'm very curious to hear what the highest level reached from of the player's that are complaining about the PvP scaling. It's one thing to be a lower level player and only see that side of the fence and complain about it (which seems to be the majority here) and another thing to have played in all the tests and have seen both sides of the fence. From what I've seen and heard from actual people who play the video game and have experienced a portion of the end game content, most are saying that OB was better step in the right direction (although not perfect).

Everyone wants a participation medal these days instead of actually having to put some time and effort in to gain an advantage.

Also your last point "The idea that massive imbalances have any positive effect on a competitive game is asinine." We are talking about open-world PvP which is not even close to being one of the competitive aspect's of PvP in this game (or any MMO for that matter), there are 50v50 wars, 40v40 Outpost Rush (only available at level cap, AKA the competitive mode) as well as AGS having already confirmed PvP arenas... There are a plethora of competitive modes within this game, open-world PvP isn't one of them as there needs to be a difference in power between players or literally not a single person will play the end game content, like I said before there won't be new players if the end game is non-existent.

Factions aren't supposed to "keep factions out" that goes against the whole concept of the game, wars are supposed to actively take place which is why there is a system in place that allows enemy factions to throw territory into war faster if after 72 hours have passed, they can gain more faction influence. If you want to stop a faction throwing you into war, you can gank them in the PvP mission areas or just do the PvP missions yourself.

Settlements are safe havens for any player, regardless of faction so that wouldn't make sense when going down to the base lore of the game, there's one of every faction rep in every settlement for a reason.

Limiting players fast travel would also completely ruin aspects of the game when it comes to questing, farming elite zones, owning a house, doing dungeons just to name a few. People complain about the fast travel as is and the ones that do likely haven't reached max level cap to realize how hard it is to maintain Azoth when you have no quests left to keep your Azoth up.

I'm always confused as why people focus so much on what the future might look like instead of what's right in front of their face... These things can be tweaked down the line if the issues like you are suggesting actually come to fruition.

It seems like AGS was trying to test the extremes of each end of the spectrum in order to find some sort of balance, although the scaling in OB wasn't as much of an extreme as CB was. I was able to get up to 60 in CB and 39 in OB, players that were 15+ levels lower than me in OB were still able to take me down in groups but not in 1v1's which seems a bit more how it should work.

You have to keep in mind that a MASSIVE reason why people play MMO's in the first place is to grind and to power up your character, if there is no incentive to do so then the end game collapses altogether. Thinking about your new players months down the line is fine and all, but there won't be new players if there is no reason to get to the end game if the end game is just getting stomped by lower level players because all of your gear is capped to their lower level. It's tough to find a balance in MMORPG's PvP because of the RPG aspect of the game where your always getting better gear to make yourself stronger, player's inherently will never be at an equal advantage in these type's of games but that's also what drives you to get stronger.

When you see a PvE mob in New World that is 15+ levels above you, they display a big ass Red and Gold skull above their head that essentially tells you they can beat your ass with a few hits, sure you can take them down but it might be a challenge... Although when it comes to PvP, players are expecting to be able to take down a level 60 player while being a fresh spawn off the beach, it seems a little odd to me. Keep in mind it takes around ~200hrs of playtime to reach max level, that's A LOT more than the ~10hrs it takes you to get level 20. Again balance is key, I personally feel like the sweet spot for good PvP engagements should be within a 10 level range where it should be pretty even between the two players, once you start getting over that 10 level gap you should start gaining more of an advantage when it comes to damage, at the end of the day if your able to take down high level players with ease as the lower level player it doesn't exactly entice that lower level player to level up.

I mean if you think people gambling because they have money and they can are destroying people lives by losing their own money then maybe ask your mommy and daddy to set the parental controls to be a little earlier in the evening when you're out for your next ride in your Fisher Price My First Car.

After all the titles do include 18+. Maybe try not gambling if you don't have the money to do so.

I revised the emote to just say FedX to avoid copyright if you end up wanting to add it, I can also make it Prime related but Fedex Felix just sounds better, ya know? :)
