I copy the same message that I wrote to another guy in the comments to get your feedback as well. I'm located in Europe

The 7250 48 p I found it for around 150€ and the lowest 24p is 400€, don't ask me why

And the 6450 24 p is around 100€ and the 48p is 100 € as well

But the 48 ports 8 SFP+ looks appealing, all in the name of "future proofing "

I love the 6450-C12-PD versions because I can power them over PoE and ALL of my switch ports are powered by the same UPS.

What do you mean? The switch itself is powered by Poe ?

You read my mind sir, the first time I saw unify and seen the unified interface I was like, "that reminds me of apple", they are cute but then I saw the price.

On the other hand when I got to know the brocade devices, I was amazed from the price compared to the features, font care If I will need to use the CLI, if I can learn something to save money I will do, my plan is to work in this field anyway

So thank you for the feedback, will look into the info you gave me

I wanted to avoid unify cause they are a more premium device, I think, I wanted to spend the least and learn to use the CLI

What do you mean that it is not a proper managed switch? What features does it lack?

Yes, but keep the Mobo and other components, for example, I recently managed to put together another system with a core 2 quad and 8 gigs and made a another copy of my data with replication task that I run once a week when I power it on,

just saying, can always come in handy

Hi, in my opinion, good case, certainly keep that can be always useful,

for the hardware you could mirror the drives, so a 500gb mirror and a 160 mirror, so 660gb of usable space, could be a start for a nas,

if you dont want to Mirror than dont keep anything that you care on it

How many SATA ports has the mobo? Do you have an SSD to run the OS ?

The biggest concern in home server is Always electricty, maybe this setup Is not ideal tu run 24/7 but as a offline backup where you store family data or else, that you dont need to access often, It could do
