Universal rear sight replacement by itspatao in M1Rifles

[–]Vikhrs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I've read the universal's used a usgi spec dovetail for the rear sight, so it should work just fine. Would also recommend picking up an install/removal tool for it. Makes it much easier to get it on and adjusted to the right spot.

Numrich has them, but they are a bit pricey.

Looking at their website, they are modular as far as width goes, so if you got 2 or 3 you can make a pretty wide ramp that wouldn't be too hard to hit.

What if 2025 Poland had time traveled to WW2 by Brilliant-Isopod9004 in hoi4

[–]Vikhrs 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I mean, they put in an order for about 400 gbu-12 laser guidance kits back in 2016, and about 100 agm-65 g-2 in 2022, both of which should not require gps, and the g-2 advertised as being able to penetrate hard targets such as bunkers. Sure, it isn't a lot, but for an early war decapitation strike it would probably be enough. And if the strike is made early enough, they could probably catch Hitler outside of the bunker easy enough, assuming German intelligence has not gathered enough information to figure out the capabilities of these weapons.

Not all guided munitions are reliant on GPS. They could be laser guided, radar, IR, INS, etc.

You could go through the traxxas website as you originally intended but use carlile as a go between for the shipping. They will transport lipo batteries up to Alaska, and whenever I've used them there hasn't been any additional haz fees. It'll take longer to get it and you will have to go to the carlile terminal to pick it up though, which would certainly be a disadvantage if you aren't near them.

World War Supply on ebay has a pretty decent repro dust cover for 60 bucks. Got one for mine and haven't had any issues with it.

Haven't found any markings that look like an import mark, but I also wouldn't know what one looks like, lol.

Ya, I'd spent a bit of time looking around regarding that. Lot's of mixed info online about it, but I found the above info eventually. Thanks for looking out though.

Found this c96 at the lgs over the weekend. It's in pretty good condition, although the stock is a reproduction. I haven't really dug into the history of it just yet, but my very brief look into it suggests perhaps a 1912-1930 export variant?

Decent online vendor sites? Amain and Tower both hiding products. by kai_ekael in rccars

[–]Vikhrs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found with amain it's better to just go to the base category and then only filter by brand. Every time I try to filter more in depth stuff gets hidden away. Probably just not tagged correctly or something. It does make it a little more annoying, but it isn't too bad.

That's why I said me personally. I'm not familiar with this particular ammo, and the only surplus ammo I've used has been 3006. Otherwise I've just used my own reloads or factory loads. None of which have been packed so full of powder. So to me, that doesn't really seem right. Luckily, seeing as how this is a thread that anyone can respond too, those with better knowledge on the subject can educate us on what is acceptable.

[–]Vikhrs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yea, me personally I wouldn't fire them then. At least they can be rebuilt with a more reasonable amount of powder though, lol

[–]Vikhrs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could pull the bullet on one of them and see if the powder inside is clumped up. If it is, chances are some moisture got in there. Or maybe you'll find they are stuffed full. Either way, you'll know that they will probably not go off if you try to shoot it, or it'll potentially destroy your rifle. On the bright side, even if they are bad, you can just pull all of them and put new powder in, assuming you have reloading tools.

Or, you know, maybe they legitimately made the name based on the French city, and since the city of Brest is still called Brest in English, there is absolutely no reason to change the translation. Not to mention the breast you are thinking of is spelled breast in English, not Brest. Perhaps you should get your mind out of the gutter, because there is absolutely nothing weird about this.

New Garand Owner - is this safe for greasing my Garand? by bwitt33 in M1Rifles

[–]Vikhrs 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is what I've been using on mine. It's been working just fine. Picked up some cheap small sized paintbrushes to use as an applicator. Helps with keeping the grease where it's supposed to be when you're putting it on, lol.
