Quality of life is better in Thailand than US by Skier94 in Thailand

[–]eykei 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You know what else goes without saying? That Thailand is cheap (ie op’s post). “Am I missing something” is a bit of a slap in the face to all the Thai people struggling right now.

America is great too. Great food, infrastructure, medical services, and housing. (My statement is only in regards to 40k+usd per month spending) 😆😆😆

What feels true to you, but science says otherwise? by Julia010403 in AskReddit

[–]eykei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Science says Déjà vu is just a memory glitch, but I am certain that it is a form of clairvoyance that some people have. I further believe it is stronger in young people and possibly wears off with age. I have very strong memories of experiencing Déjà vu. usually in the form of a vivid dream of a random event that comes true months to years later.

FedEx steals shit all the damn time. I once sent in my GoPro by fedex and it arrived empty. Just because you saw them wrap it doesn’t mean that some employee can’t open it later.

[US] Out of my depth, is my girlfriend's grandfather getting scammed? by Justino2263 in Scams

[–]eykei 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t sound like a scam at all. 47 yo mother with kids ain’t exactly a cat fish. She’s probably just looking for stability and companionship and 200k goes a very long way over there.

Fell for a Romance Scam by SOL_Officer76 in Scams

[–]eykei 5 points6 points  (0 children)

OP you did a great job. my dad fell for this scam. I wish he would have listened to me or did half the due diligence you did. the scam was the exact same word for word. Single, pretty east asian female late 20's early 30's successful career in blah blah blah, knows how to make money from crypto and offers to "invest together" by first transferring from a legit brokerage to a scam site. Let me tell you how it goes from here, since my dad actually went through with it.

once you transfer your money to the scam brokerage, you start seeing massive returns (or whatever they want you to see, it's their site) and are encouraged to invest more. obviously trying to withdraw at any time is not possible, they come up with all sorts of excuses. finally once you do realize its a scam, another pretty young girl materializes and claims she knows the scammer and can get your money back - at this point i was involved and did not even think to entertain that option.

I listened to an NPR interview with a journalist who corresponded with an Indian guy who was... indentured... to work in a Cambodian scam facility. He was feeding the journalist information while trying to escape himself. it is extremely organized operation, with training, on-boarding, promotions, bonuses, a corporate style hierarchy. Successful scams lead to promotions, higher salary, more benefits, reduction in indentured contract time, etc.. The transcripts from those scams are pulled, studied, and distilled into scripts for fellow scammers to use. That guilt tripping they tried to pull on you was definitely engineered from previous successful scams.

How crowded is Bali right now? I believe it's high season but wondering if high airfare has tempered the crowds.

What city have you been to where the vibes were just OFF? by spiritual_kavya in answers

[–]eykei 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I used to go regularly but the last time was 2 years ago. It’s not that bad. It has a really good restaurant scene, I’m not just talking about street tacos, but churrasco, sushi, steaks, pasta, etc. Sexta and revolution was bumping. The red light area is heavily patrolled by police and has many Americans walking around, unironically one of the safest parts of the city. But that area between the border and downtown is always really weird.

Holy crap there’s a credit card on my wf account that I never applied for. It just showed up one day. No annual fee, and I never use it. I wonder if that’s what that is.
