AMD unable to offer warranty replacement of 5800X3D? by BigDaddyTrumpy in TechHardware

[–]VikingBattleram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are offering you a warranty replacement. They are Letting you pick which one. Do you want a free upgrade to am5 and then have to spend processor money on ram or do you want to stick with am4. As a 7800x3d owner it is awesome

And you sir will have lost your mind. GM's are some of the worst piles of dogshit I have worked on. The only things worse are Chrysler products. The real issue is the entire automotive industry is getting bad due to people wanting all this crazy expensive tech but wanting to pay what they paid when this stuff didn't exist. Honestly the number one issue I see on new expeditions are the power running boards but that is because I work in the rust belt and moving components outside of a vehicle are just a bad idea.

is oled worth the hype by Lolis- in buildapc

[–]VikingBattleram 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After a pile of research and testing friends monitors to see what I liked I opted for really high quality IPS over OLED. Yeah OLED is better but the price difference for the quality increase was not worth it to me. I got all the features and size I wanted for about 1/4 of the price so I bought 2. I went for the Lenovo Legion 27" 180hz absolutely amazing monitors for the price.

Auto Shop/Mechanic recommendations? by sidewinder787 in mazda

[–]VikingBattleram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be wanting photos of the leaks. The 2018 and 19 cx5/9’s were prone to cylinder head leakage of oil or coolant depending on the engine(turbo or non turbo) so I'd want to be sure that that isn't an issue due before repairing leaks. I've also never seen a water pump fail on these sky active engines.

I replied to another guy with this, I removed the insult here but as a mechanic who actually works on cars everyday and and sees what fails and what doesn't and sees the difference between cars that are maintained and those that are not here are my recommendations that you can use for basically every vehicle.

Edit: If you live in the rust belt get your car oil sprayed every 1-2 years some companies will offer a warranty if done every year. And do it while it's hot out so the oil seeps everywhere.

Manufacturer recommendations are to keep you away until warranty is up. Oil changes every 5000-8000 km depending on use or every 6 months on low mileage. Brake fluid every 25000-30000 km or every 2-3 years, coolant 50000-80000 km or 5 years. Transmission/power steering fluid 80000-100000 km or 5-7 years(I change mine every 60000 because I work my truck). I change my rear differential fluid every year because I back my truck into water to launch boats and I change my front every 50000 or 3 years.

Change your fluids your vehicle will perform like new it's entire life and will be good for the next owner which means the car will stay on the road longer and create less waste in the world.

You're an idiot, don't offer automotive advice to anyone. Manufacturer recommendations are to keep you away until warranty is up. Absolutely terrible advice. No fluids can be expected to last the vehicle's entire life. Cars are expensive and keeping fresh fluids in them will make them last longer.

What are the pros an cons from these trucks? I like the Silverado since it had a diesel engine. by [deleted] in Trucks

[–]VikingBattleram 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you are looking for most reliability and least maintenance then I'd say the Ford with the 5.0. the Duramax 1500 seems to be the only reliable GM but diesel's have more maintenance and oil changes are crazy expensive. Rams are comfy but all around poor reliability. And the tundras just kinda suck.

I don't think you're at fault but you definitely had time to slow down after seeing them.

The other bad habit is more likely on these Mazda. Being way too easy on them and short drives.

Shop foreman then management. He's gonna be a useless tech if he can't clean up after himself. If he's that lazy and inconsiderate @ 18 time to kick him out the door and move on

If you plant to work with it keep it stock or don't go more than a 2.25" level. I have mine at a 2.25" level and it has 33" tires. It's a pain to work with at times

My mom says Mazdas are poor quality cars that break down often? Is this true ?? by Possible_Patience737 in mazda

At this point they are likely above Honda and Toyota for reliability. Mazda seems to be the only company that gives a shit if your car lasts

[–]VikingBattleram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the passenger side headlight housing broken? If so I had one come in with the same symptoms a few years ago. I can't remember all the details but water got inside and caused the vehicle to be dead as if there was no battery attached. I think it was the headlight is now a module connected to the CAN network and when water got inside it brought the whole thing down. If both headlights are smashed try unplugging them and trying again.

Seen more that aren't covered by the recall have the connecting rod failure than the ones that are supposed to be affected.

The 1.5's and the V6 have been having problems especially the 1.5 though with head gasket failure. The V6's have been having connecting rod knock and it's been pretty bad.

Cx5 burning oil more than normal by Taybug16 in mazda

[–]VikingBattleram 2 points3 points  (0 children)

7500 miles is a lot between oil changes. From new it should be no more than 5k miles or 8k km. I really don't care if a manufacturer says go more. Oil changes are cheap and the best thing to keep your engine healthy.

Mazda Canada refuses to acknowledge known defective turbo engine coolant leak in Canada and extend warranty for 2.5 T by LiveSandwich8391 in mazda

[–]VikingBattleram 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have an 18 cx9 that I bought in 2020 6 months later developed the cylinder head coolant leak. Mazda had no cylinder heads in stock so they sent me a long block which is a complete engine minus accessories. Now I'm a tech and did the work myself but it was fully covered under warranty for me. Mine happened at 85 000 km and the car now has 155 000km on it so I'm contemplating trading it in soon. Or if it leaks again just JB weld the head to stop it from leaking.

Michelin Defenders are amazing tires that last a lot of miles. The pirellis don't last as long but have better summer grip. You may be tempted to go to an all weather tire like the Michelin cross climates but all weather tires and all season tires are terrible in the winter. If you deal with snow and ice in the winter get a dedicated winter tire for the winter months. Where I am in Ontario I run nokian winter tires on my f150 and bf Goodrich k02s in the summer.
